■ Particularly with poultry and dish-
es containing fresh egg, and when
warming up meals, ensure that the
food is fully cooked through to kill off
all pathogens (e.g. salmonella).
CAUTION
Health hazard!
Acrylamide may be carcinogenic. Acryla-
mide is produced when starch is exposed
to excessive heat e.g. in biscuits, toast,
bread, potatoes (chips, crisps).
■ Keep cooking times as short as possible.
■ Only brown the food slightly, do not
allow it to brown too much.
■ Cut larger-sized fries and then bake
at maximum of 180°C.
■ When frying potatoes using raw po-
tato discs or frying potato fritters in
a frying pan, it is better to use mar-
garine (with a minimum fat content
of 80%) or oil with a little margarine
instead of pure oil.
■ Brushing baked goods with egg
whites or egg yolks helps to reduce
the formation of acrylamides.
Safely using the hob/cooktop
WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Touching live parts may result in severe
injury or death.
■ If the surface is cracked, switch off
the appliance to avoid the possibility
of electric shock.
■ Do not use a steam cleaner or pres-
sure cleaner to clean the hob. Steam
could get through cracks into live
electrical components of the hob and
cause short-circuiting.
Safety
CAUTION
Risk of burns!
The solid plates get very hot during op-
eration and will remain hot after they
are switched off.
■ Metallic objects such as knives, forks,
spoons and lids should not be placed
on the hob surface because they can
get hot.
■ Allow the solid plates to cool com-
pletely before cleaning.
CAUTION
Fire hazard!
Unattended cooking on a hob with fat
or oil can be dangerous and may result
in fire.
■ NEVER try to extinguish a fire with
water, but switch off the appliance
and then cover flame e.g. with a lid or
a fire blanket.
■ The cooking process has to be super-
vised. A short term cooking process
has to be supervised continuously.
■ Do not store items on the cooking
surfaces.
■ Use only hob guards designed by the
manufacturer of the cooking appli-
ance or indicated by the manufactur-
er of the appliance in the instructions
for use as suitable or hob guards in-
corporated in the appliance. The use
of inappropriate guards can cause
accidents.
■ Always switch the hob off completely
after cooking.
