Fundamentals of demounting
and mounting a tire
1
Use the special plastic parts for clamping, the
plastic mounting head and special tire levers
(coated or the like) so as not to damage the
rims, in particular alloy rims, when mounting
or demounting the tires.
2
Prior to demounting or mounting a commercial
tire lubricant should be applied onto the bead
outer and inner sides, the rim fl anges and
shoulders, and the Denloc groove with TD
tires. Never use other agents only supposed
to lubricate!
3
Prior to demounting or mounting of a tire
check the rim for damage (deformation and/
or damaged surface of rim fl anges, lateral
and radial run-out of rim, corrosion, wear in
general).
4
With some tire types, pay attention to the
outer sidewall rib, or to direction of rotation as
indicated on the tire.
5
When infl ating the tire increase pressure
gradually and possibly by constantly
observing the bead. A seating pressure of
3.3 bar should not be exceeded. Make sure
the mounting guide rib of the tire is correctly
seated with respect to the rim fl ange. A fi nal
pressure of 3.5 bar should not be exceeded
(also refer to Chapter: Beading Tubeless
tires).
6
Always fi t tires on rims of proper size (identical
nominal diameter); this means for example no
tires of nominal size in mm on rims of nominal
size in inches and vice versa.
7
No tubes may be fi tted in TD tires.
8
At any rate pay attention to special mounting
and de mounting instructions by tire makers.
