The following additional settings can be adjusted and the following information can be seen in the main menu for the
controller AIR1-BE Eco (Controller AIR1-BE Touch see separate manual):
Selected functions
"Extended overview" - Overview page with system information
Inputs/outputs
Signals to all control inputs/outputs can be checked (not adjustable)
Manual/Auto (function test)
Individual functions, such as a fan or damper, can be manually controlled (see section Manual/Auto (function test) in the
service section of these installation and operating instructions).
Configuration
"Configuration" - Same function as the commissioning assistant with extended scope and no sequenced query (see
Commissioning assistant section in the Commissioning section).
Settings other than those specified in this manual are not recommended!
Settings
"Professional settings" - Extensive modifications to the controller can be carried out in the settings, e.g. alarm changes.
This function may only be used by specialist personnel.
Settings other than those specified in this manual are not recommended.
Functions
At low outside air temperatures, there is a risk of freezing of the cross-counterflow heat exchanger depending on the
room air conditions (temperature and humidity). Various configurations are available for the AIR1 XVP air handling units
- depending on the unit equipment - to prevent the heat exchanger from freezing.
Unit without preheater and without afterheater:
Corresponds to the standard equipment of the HR unit. In this case, the heat exchanger frost protection is realized by
a dysbalance between the supply/outdoor air and the exhaust/extract air as follows:
• Activation of heat exchanger frost protection when outdoor air temperature < -4°C and exhaust air temperature <
2°C.
• Continuous reduction of the supply/outdoor air volume flow (dysbalance).
• If there is still a risk of icing of the heat exchanger, the supply air fan is stopped for a defined period of time.
• When the supply air fan starts, the icing situation is checked again.
• If the exhaust air temperature is > 4°C, the heat exchanger frost protection will be deactivated and the unit runs into
normal operation.
• If there is still a risk of icing, the supply air fan will stop again. When the fan stops for the third time, the ventilation unit
goes into stand-by mode and an alarm message appears, which must be reset manually in order to restart the unit.
Unit with preheater and without afterheater:
An electrical preheater is available as an optional accessory.
The use of a preheater is required if freezing of the cross counterflow heat exchanger must be prevented due to the
expected temperatures! The heater is controlled steplessly to reduce the energy consumption.
In the default settings of the device, the preheating is deactivated. Activation/deactivation of the preheater by the user/
installer is possible via commissioning assistant (see chapter „Electrical pre-heating" 2.11.8).
Preheating only works when the supply air fan is in operation and there are no faults.
The heat exchanger frost protection with preheater is implemented as follows:
• Activation of heat exchanger frost protection and control of preheating when outdoor air temperature < -4°C and
exhaust air temperature < 0°C.
• Continuous power control of the preheater until an exhaust air temperature of + 4°C or 100% of the preheater power
is reached.
• As soon as the preheater is activated for more than 3 minutes with at 100 % capacity, the air volume flow (supply and
extract air) is continuously reduced by max. 35 %
• At an exhaust air temperature > 4°C, the heat exchanger frost protection is deactivated and the unit runs into normal
operation.
