The suitable heat setting

The following list shows which heating set-
tings are suitable for which use. The precise
setting depends, however, on various factors,
such as the type of cookware and the quantity
of food. For this reason, variations are pos-
sible.
1–2: Careful heating of small amounts of
food. Melting chocolate, butter and
sensitive foods.
Light simmering/boiling.
Warming up slowly.
3–4: Reheating food.
Continuous cooking. Cooking rice.
5–6: Roasting. Sautéing.
Cooking pancakes.
7–8: Searing meat.
9/P: Rapid searing. Deep-frying.
Bringing water/soup to the boil.

Residual heat indicators

CAUTION
Risk of burns!
If a power failure occurs, the residual
heat indicators will go out and may not
indicate the presence of residual heat.
■ Do not touch the cooking zones after
a power failure.
During cooking processes,
the heat from the pot is
transferred to the glass ce-
ramic surface of the cook-
ing zone, and the cooking
zone becomes hot. The residual heat indica-
tors show which surfaces are hot to protect
you from burns. The
symbol indicates which
H
of the cooking zones are hot.
Using and caring for the hob
The corresponding residual heat indicator
will light up as soon as the cooking zone has
reached approx. 50 °C when heating up.
After switching off the cooking zone or the
hob, the residual heat indicator will light up as
long as the cooking zone is still hot. You can
therefore still use residual heat.
If the temperature of the glass ceramic sur-
face falls below a certain value (approx.
65 °C), the "
" indicator will go out and show
H
"
".

Automatic reduction in
performance
The temperature of the electronic elements
inside the hob are constantly measured using
a sensor. If the heat increases too rapidly, the
heating level in the cooking zone where the
electronic elements are likely to overheat will
automatically reduce or the elements in the
adjacent cooking zone to the one where the
elements are overheating will be automatical-
ly switched off. In an extreme case, the hob
will be completely switched off automatically.
Once the electronic elements have once
again cooled sufficiently, the heating level will
once again be restored to the original setting.

Operating time limit

For your safety, all of the cooking zones are
equipped with an operating time limiter. If
the heating level hasn't been changed for a
longer period of time (see the following table),
the cooking zone switches off automatically
and the residual heat indicator is activated.
The maximum operating time is set in accord-
ance with the most recently selected heat set-
ting.
