The suitable heat setting

The following list shows which heating set-
tings are suitable for which use. The exact
setting depends, however, on various factors,
such as the type of cookware and the quantity
of food. For this reason, variations are pos-
sible.
1–2:
Careful heating of small amounts
of food; melting of chocolate; butter
and delicate foods;
light simmering/boiling;
slow heating.
3–5:
Reheating food;
continuing cooking; cooking rice.
6–11: Cooking pancakes.
12-13: Roasting; sautéing;
cooking noodles.
14/P: Searing; deep frying;
bringing water/soup to the boil.

Pause function

You can use the pause function to interrupt
the heating process on all cooking zones.
When the pause function is activated, all sen-
sors except the key lock/pause sensor
and the On/Off sensor
and "
" will appear on the displays.
IIII
The pause function will remain active for no
longer than 10 minutes, after which the hob
will switch itself off.
• To activate and deactivate the pause func-
tion, touch the key lock/pause sensor

Cooking tips

– To sear and parboil food, always select the
highest setting.
– As soon as the contents of the pot have
started to cook and steam is forming or the
steak is brown on both sides, you can turn
the heat down to a lower setting.
Using and caring for the hob
(9)
(12) will be locked
.
– Roasts weighing more than 1 kilogram are
best cooked in the oven.
– Use the right dishes and a little water/oil to
cook; this helps to preserve the vitamins.
– Use the residual heat of the solid plates.
The heat suffices for approx. 5–10 minutes,
e.g. to soak rice.

Residual heat indicators

CAUTION
Risk of burns!
If a power failure occurs, the residual
heat indicators will go out and may not
indicate the presence of residual heat.
■ Do not touch the cooking zones after
a power failure.
During cooking processes, the
heat from the pot is transferred
to the glass ceramic surface of
the cooking zone, and the cook-
ing zone becomes hot. The re-
sidual heat indicators show
which surfaces are hot to protect you from
burns. The
symbol indicates which of the
H
cooking zones are hot.
The corresponding residual heat indicator
will light up as soon as the cooking zone has
reached approx. 50 °C when heating up.
After switching off the cooking zone or the
hob, the residual heat indicator will light up as
long as the cooking zone is still hot. You can
therefore still use residual heat.
If the temperature of the glass ceramic sur-
face falls below a certain value (approx.
65°C), the
indicator will go out.
