Inserting a safety wedge
In order to keep the felling cut open and to secure the trunk, you must
insert a safety wedge.
Use safety wedges made of aluminium or plastic.

Inserting the felling wedges

When the felling cut has been created and the tree to be felled has been
secured with safety wedges, the felling wedge inserts a symmetrical,
wedge-shaped opening, the so-called beak cut.
Extend the beak cut so that the implement can be inserted at

least up to the marking on the spring steel plates.
Extend the lifting wedge until the implement is firmly seated in
>
the wood.
If the wood is frozen, the felling wedge must be inserted deep enough
to grip securely.
