9. Inserting/changing the batteries

a) General information

• First insert the batteries into the outdoor sensor.
• When inserting the batteries into the weather station (or connecting the mains adapter), the
outdoor sensor must be approx. 2 - 3 m away from the weather station. Otherwise the data
from the outdoor sensor cannot be sent to the weather station.
• As soon as the weather station is supplied with power, it begins searching for the outdoor
sensor signal. While this is happening, the signal strength indicator (N) flashes. Do not press
any key until the outdoor temperature is displayed on the weather station. Otherwise, search
mode will be cancelled.
As soon as the connection between the outdoor sensor and the weather station is established,
the signal strength indicator lights up permanently. The more bars displayed, the better the
reception.
• Replace the batteries as soon as the corresponding indicator (F, I) appears on the display.

b) External sensor

• Remove the battery compartment cover (12) from the back.
• Insert 2 AA batteries, observing correct polarity. Observe polarity as indicated inside the
battery compartment. The display (13) presently shows the temperature and the humidity.
• Close the battery compartment.
While possible, operating the outdoor sensor with rechargeable batteries will greatly
reduce both operating time and display contrast due to the lower voltage (batteries =
1.5 V, rechargeable batteries = 1.2 V).
Moreover, rechargeable batteries are very sensitive to temperature, which can result
in further reduction of the operating time in the case of the outdoor sensor in low
ambient temperatures.
We therefore recommend the use of high-quality lithium or alkaline batteries and no
rechargeable batteries, both for the weather station as well as for the outdoor sensor.
