4. Testing
4.1 Function test
You have to perform the function test in order to prepare the device for operation.
Step 1 - Display-test (self-test)
As long as the on-off switch is pressed, all display segments appear, the 4 LEDs gleam and an acoustic
signal occurs. When you stop pressing the on-off switch, "TEST" appears in the display.
Step 2 – Check ground connection and protective resistors
Connect the universal clip to ground and contact the test electrode to ground.
The DSP 3HS36 is ready for operation when „Rdy" appears and the green LED gleams.
Attention!
If one of the displays fails during the self-test the voltage tester may not be placed into operation and
needs to be send to repair.
4.2 Performing voltage tests
Preparation and check within three steps:
1. Establishing contact
Firmly connect the contact clip with the ground potential (preferably fixed ball point/conductor rail).
2. Function test
Switch on the device (press push-button).
„TEST - - -" as well as battery condition (see 5.1) are indicated.
Press the test electrode to the ground potential.
Do not touch the clip when checking the connection between clip and ground.
The DSP 3HS36 is ready for operation when „Rdy" flashes and the green LED gleams.
Note:
In case the function test has not been sucessful, check the following:
- Is there a connection to ground potential?
- Contact clip tightly connected?
- Battery empty?
- Test electrode screwed tightly?
Switch on the device for self-test and put the universal clip to the contact electrode. Firmly attach the
clip with the ground potential, if necessary clean the contact surface and repeat the function test.
If the function test fails, the voltage tester may not be used!
3. Testing voltage
Attention!
The function test has to be performed successfully and the green LED must light up.
Hold the instrument only beneath its octagonal limiting disc!
The test probes may only be connected up to the red limiting mark to live or grounded plant compon-
ents. With all other parts of the voltage tester the distance has to be kept as big as possible.
Connect the test electrode securely with the conductor to be
