Drainage of the fuel tank (Fig. 2)
1. Stop the engine and disconnect the high tension wire from
spark plug.
2. Unscrew the fuel tank cap.
3. Using a siphon, pump the petrol from the tank into a suita-
ble container.
Servicing the air fi lter
Clean the air fi lter every 25 hours. Replace it every season.
(See engine manual for further information).
Traction cable adjustment
After the fi rst hours of use it is possible that the traction han-
dle cable loosens and it becomes diffi cult to use.
If this happens, adjust the cable regulator.
Blade Inspection
The frequency of blade inspection depends on the working
conditions.
1. Make sure that the engine is not running and the high ten-
sion wire is disconnected from the spark plug.
2. Drain petrol from the fuel tank.
3. Tilt the mower to the left side (operator point of view),
without rotating the blade.
4. Carefully examine the blade:
a) If the cutting edge has become rounded it must be shar-
pened.
b) Check where the fl at and curved parts meet and, if there
are any cracks or signs of wear replace the blade immedia-
tely.
ATTENTION: A worn or cracked blade can easily break
during use or pieces may break off , resulting in serious
injury to yourself or a bystander.
Sharpening or replacing the cutter blade
1. Turn the engine off and disconnect the high tension wire
from the spark plug.
2. Drain fuel from the fuel tank.
3. Tip mower on its left side (operator point of view). Avoid
rotating the blade when the mower is tipped up because
starting problems may result.
4. While keeping the blade in place with the hand, fully loo-
sen the fi xture bolt using a special wrench.
5. Remove the blade in order to sharpen or replace it.
6. Using a fl at fi le, sharpen the top side of blade, maintaining
the original cutting angle. The blade will remain balanced
if the same amount of material is removed from both cut-
ting edges.
7. Check the balance of the blade by using a blade balancer.
An unbalanced blade will lean on its heavier side. If the bla-
de is not balanced fi !e more metal off the cutting edge of
the heavy side and check the balance again.
8. Install a sharp, balanced blade, following the above proce-
dure in reverse sequence (see points 4 and 5).
9. Tighten the blade bolt to 3,5 Kgm.
NOTE: A blade balancer may be purchased at any good
hardware shop.
ATTENTION: In order to obtain best possible cutting resul-
ts, we recommend that you replace the blade annually in
addition to sharpening it whenever necessary.
Cleaning the mower deck
To achieve optimum cutting results and eff ective collection,
the underside of the mower deck and the grass discharge
area must be kept clean.
This model features a special device that allows you to clean
the machine simply and quickly using a normal garden hose.
1. Fit your female quick-release connector onto the male con-
nector on the mower body.
Make sure that the hose is not trapped under the body.
2. Turn the water ON.
3. Switch ON your mower following the instructions descri-
bed in the corresponging section.
4. Keep the safety lever pressed and do not touch the trac-
tion lever.
5. Allow the machine to work "in neutral" for several minu-
tes. Grass residues will be detached due to the combined
action of the water jet and blade movement, leaving the
internal parts of the body perfectly clean.
6. After cleaning, switch OFF the engine, detach the water
hose and allow your perfectly clean lawn mower to dry.
Preparing mower for storage (more than a month).
1. Drain fuel from the tank.
2. Start engine and let it run until it stops, due to lack of fuel.
ATTENTION:
All petrol must be expended to prevent gum-like varnish
deposits from forming in the carburetor, fuel line and fuel
tank. Such deposits, if allowed to form, will cause starting
problems and poor engine performance.
3. Remove the high tension wire from the spark plug and
clean the surrounding area so that dirt cannot penetrate
the cylinder when the spark plug is removed. Remove the
spark plug and pour a spoonful of 2-cycle oil into the cylin-
der chamber. Pull the recoil starter handle slowly to distri-
bute oil on the inside of the cylinder. Then install the spark
plug and tighten, using a spanner. Do not install the high
tension wire on the spark plug.
4. Clean the cylinder head cooler fi ns, external engine parts
and mower deck.
5. Check and tighten all screws, bolts and nuts. If any parts
are damaged, repair or replace them.
Inspect the grassbag. Replace it if it is damaged or worn.
6. Check the condition of the blade and blade bolt; refer to
"Blade inspection".
7. Clean the air fi lter (see engine manufacturer's manual).
8. Touch-up all chipped paint surfaces.
9. Store the mower in a clean, dry place. The handles may be
folded to save space. Cover the mower to protect it and
keep it clean, ready for next season.
NOTE: Before using the mower again, check that the han-
dles are well installed and all knobs are tightened.
