ATTENTION:
1. Do not fi ll beyond level as this may damage the engine.
2. To keep your engine in good working order, change the
oil after the fi rst 5 hours of use and then every 25 working
hours.
3. If the mower is used in very dirty and dusty conditions,
change the oil more frequently.
4. For further information we recommend that you con-
sult the manual supplied by the engine manufacturer.
Filling the fuel tank (Fig. 2)
1. Clean around the tank cap.
2. Take the cap off and fi ll the tank up to about 15 mm from
the top with clean petrol.
3. Replace cap and clean any spillage
ATTENTION:
1. Always handle fuel with maximum care.
2. Refuel outdoors using a clean funnel to prevent spil-
ling. Wipe up any spilled petrol.
3. Refuel only after turning the engine off and when engi-
ne is cold. Do not fi ll beyond 15 mm from top of fuel tank
as fuel expands when hot.
4. When fi lling tank, keep far away from open fl ames and
sparks and DO NOT smoke!
5. Do not mix oil with gasoline. (See engine manual for
further informations on oil and fuel).
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Your lawnmower is equipped with a safety device
(System 2) which kills the engine and stops the cutting
blade whenever the operator lets go of the handle.
ATTENTION: Never leave the mower unattended.
When the engine is already warm, it is not necessary to
press the primer in order to start the engine.
1. Place mower on the lawn, possibly on a fl at surtace.
2. Check the height of the grass and adjust the height of cut
accordingly.
3. Cutting height adjustment. This must be done when engi-
ne is off .
a) Seven settings are available.
b) For easier adjustment, lift the housing up so that the
wheel does not touch the ground.
c) Squeeze adjustment lever towards the wheel and move
to the desired setting.
d) Ensure the lever slots fi rmly into the chosen notch.
e) Adjust all wheels to the same setting (9-fi g. 1, fi g. 3).
4. Check that the high tension wire is on the spark plug.
5. Press the primer pump three times to enrichen the carbu-
ration (3-fi g. 1).

6. Squeeze the System 2 lever (2-fi g. 1) towards the handle,
slowly pull starter handle (4-fi g. 1) until cord is stretched
tight and then pull hard to start the engine.
IB-4237EB
6. Squeeze the System 2 lever (2-fi g. 1) towards the handle,
slowly pull starter handle (4-fi g. 1) until cord is stretched
tight and then pull hard to start the engine.
7. Squeeze the traction lever (1-fi g. 1) towards the hand-
les and the mower will start moving forward and cut the
grass.
8. To stop the traction or to pull the mower backwards, let go
of the traction lever.
DURING OPERATION
Keep people and animals away from the cutting area (Fig. 4).
Before operation, clear the cutting area of all foreign objects
(Fig. 4).
Operate only with either bag or protections in position (Fig.
5).
Keep hands and feet away from the chute door and the bla-
des under the deck (Fig. 6 and 7).
The grassbag material is capable of stopping most forms of
debris (stones, gravel, etc.) which could be thrown out by the
blade. lt is essential that the grassbag is checked periodically
for damage or wear, in which case it should be replaced Im-
mediately with an original IBEA grassbag.
Blade holder
While operating with your lawnmower, it may happen that
the cutting blade collides with a solid object with the conse-
quent breakage of blade bushing pins (fi g. 8). The mower will
then start to vibrate abnormally.
In order to avoid severe damages to your lawnmower, imme-
diately stop the engine when the above mentioned situation
takes place.
Wait until the moving parts have completely stopped, discon-
nect the high tension wire from the spark plug and replace
the blade bushing.
ATTENTION: Never service or repair the mower until the
blade and the engine have stopped and you have discon-
nected the high tension wire from the spark plug.
Always wear gloves during maintenance operations.
Crankcase oil change (Fig. 2)
1. Place the mower on a fl at surface.
2. Start the engine and let it run for about a minute so that oil
fl ows better. Turn off engine.
3. Dosconnect the high tension wire from the spark plug.
4. Remove the grassbag.
5. Drain the fuel tank in order to avoid possible spillage and
accidents (see "Drainage of the fuel tank").
6. Tip mower on its side and unscrew the oil fi ller cap. Empty
the crankcase, allowing the oil to fl ow into a suitable tray.
7. When the crankcase is completely empty, screw the drai-
nage plug back on again and fi ll the crankcase with clean
SAE30 oil (0,60 l).
NOTE: Please refer to local regulations for correct dispo-
sal of burnt engine oil.
