Headphone connection
To monitor the AF signal, a headphone with a 3.5
mm stereo jack can be connected to socket
headphone's impedance should be in the range of
approx. 50 Ω to 150 Ω.. The volume of the
headphone is adjusted by means of the volume
control
). The connection is unbalanced. Max.
output power: 50 mW.
Adjusting the squelch
With the transmitter switched off, no AF signal
should be available at the output of the receiver
since the signal would be noisy. This is achieved
by means of the squelch
Positioning of the control
1 The squelch already opens at a relatively low
field strength and then conducts the AF
signal to the AF output. Attention: The AF
signal may still be noisy.
7 The squelch only opens at a relatively high
field strength and then conducts the AF
signal to the AF output. The AF signal is then
strong and not noisy. Attention: Slight
variations in the field strength can lead to
drop outs.
Nota Bene
With the transmitter switched off, the squelch
is advanced until the noise is completely
suppressed.
The squelch is to be advanced
as possible in order not to impede the
transmission.
