OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND FUNCTIONS

• The first few times the appliance is used, there may be an acrid, burnt smell. This
smell disappears completely with repeated use.
• The cooking surface is equipped with several hotplates of different diameters and
power.
• The places where heat is released are clearly marked on the cooking surface. The
pots must be positioned exactly on the markings for efficient heating. Pots and pans
should have the same diameter as the hobs on which they are placed.
• Do not use pots and pans with uneven bottoms as this can scratch the ceramic
surface.
• Before use, make sure that the undersides of the pots and pans are clean and dry.
• The bottom of the pan should be slightly concave when the pan is cold, as it
expands when the heat is on and then lies flat on the hotplate. This allows the heat
to be transferred better.
• The best thickness for the bottom of the pan is 2-3 mm for enamelled steel and 4-6
mm for stainless steel with a multi-layer bottom.
• If these rules are not followed, there is a high heat and energy loss. The heat cannot
then be absorbed by the pan/pot and radiates onto the cooker, the frame and the
surroundings.
• If you cover pots or pans with a lid when cooking, reheating can take place at a
lower heat input.
• Always cook vegetables and potatoes in water to reduce preparation time.
• Food or liquids with a high sugar content can attack the surface of the hob if they
come into contact with it. Therefore, if they are spilled, they should be removed
immediately to avoid damaging the surface of the unit.
Note: The cooking surface is stable but not unbreakable and can be damaged.
Therefore, do not drop any sharp or heavy objects on the cooking surface.
