10.3 Cleaning/replacing the emitter casing tube

The emitter casing tube must be cleaned each time an emitter is replaced.
Depending on the water quality and operating conditions, cleaning may
also be required between scheduled emitter replacements.
When the product is being cleaned, lime, iron and manganese deposits
12
are removed from the emitter casing tube and from the walls of the
radiation chamber. Depending on the type of contamination, the emitter
casing tube should be cleaned with a diluted acid (such as citric acid)
or a solvent (such as ethyl alcohol) and a soft cloth.
The emitter casing tube must be replaced within the prescribed main-
tenance intervals (see chapter "11.2 Maintenance and wearing parts",
page 32).
13
Condensation may build up inside the emitter casing tube.
● Switch off the main switch and close the stop valves.
● Remove the product cover (see chapter 10.1).
● Slowly open the drain screw (22) to drain the UV radiation cham-
ber (1) (drain the contents through a floor drain or the sewage
system).
18
● Remove the 2 setscrews and the protective cap (12).
● Disconnect the emitter plug (13) and remove the UV emitter (18).
● Unscrew the upper tensioning screw (14) and remove the support
ring (15.1).
● Unscrew the lower tensioning screw (20), making sure that the emit-
ter casing tube (17) does not fall out; push it up and pull it out.
● Remove deposits from the outside of the emitter casing tube (17)
with a soft cloth. If required, use citric acid or a solvent (e.g. ethyl al-
cohol). If there is condensation, push a soft cloth through the emitter
19
casing tube to dry it.
● Check the emitter casing tube (17) for scratches and replace it if
necessary.
● Insert the emitter casing tube (17) into the radiation chamber (1)
14
from above with your hand below it to prevent it from falling out.
● Before installation, grease the lower O-ring (16.2) with silicone
15.1
grease and push it approx. 25 mm over the emitter casing tube (17)
from below.
● Insert the lower support ring (15.2) into the lower tensioning screw
16.1
(20).
● Screw in the lower tensioning screw (20) by hand until the O-ring is
21
sufficiently compressed (16.2).
● Before installation, grease the upper O-ring (16.1) with silicone
grease and push it approx. 25 mm over the emitter casing tube (17)
from above.
● Place the upper support ring (15.1) onto the emitter casing tube.
● Screw in the upper tensioning screw (14) until the O-ring is sufficient-
ly compressed (16.1).
● Drop the spring (19) down into the emitter casing tube (17).
17
● Insert the UV emitter (18) into the emitter casing tube (17) until the
emitter plug (13) can be connected.
● Connect the plug (13), making sure it is firmly in place.
1
● Insert the UV emitter (18) all the way.
● Attach the protective cap (12) and secure it with 2 setscrews.
● Screw in the drain screw (22).
● Open the stop valves.
● Switch on the main switch.
● Bleed the UV radiation chamber (1) using the bleed screw (21).
● Attach the product cover and secure it using four screws.
● Open the shut-off devices.
The product is ready for use again.
