Generator troubleshooting
Malfunction
The generator delivers no
voltage or only a low voltage
Excessive power protection
switch has tripped
Voltage fall sharply or to zero
when a load is connected
Generator voltage too high
Generator overheating
Page 42
Possible cause
Defective controller
Short circuit in stator windings
Defect in the consumer or in the
supply cabling
Defective protection switch
Engine speed too low, or speed con-
troller not working properly
Load too high
Engine speed too high
Speed controller defective
Generator is overloaded
Ambient temperature too high
Remedy
Replace the controller
Check the stator, replace it if
necessary
Reset the protection switch.
Connect first the supply cabling
then the consumer. If the
protection switch trips again, have
the supply cabling or the consumer
repaired.
Check the protection switch,
replace it if necessary
Have the engine adjusted to the
rated speed by an authorised
specialist workshop
Reduce load
Have it adjusted to the rated
speed, max. voltage 240 Volt
Replace the speed controller
Switch off individual consumers.
Check the air supply and
discharge ducts.
The generators are designed for
ambient temperatures up to +40 °C
