Notes on Safety Prevention
This machine can only be operated
safely when the operating
instructions and the pamphlet
containing the safety instructions
have been completely read and
strictly adhered to.
‰ For further notes on safety refer to enclosed
Sheet.
‰ Always inspect cable and plug before using
machine. Only have damage repaired by a
qualified professional.
‰ Make sure machine is switched off before
inserting plug in socket.
‰ The machine must not be damp and must not
be operated in a wet environment.
‰ Caution with long hair. Do not wear loose‑
fitting clothing while working.
‰ Secure your workpiece with clamps.
‰ Always direct power cable to rear away from
the machine.
‰ Always ensure that you have a secure footing
while working.
‰ In the interests of safety, the auxiliary handle
(14) should always be used.
‰ Watch out for the initial torque reaction of the
drill, especially when drill bit is tight.
Safety clutch
The safety clutch is activated if the drill
becomes jammed or caught.
‰ Before carrying out any work on the machine
disconnect from power supply by removing
plug from socket.
‰ The chuck key should always be kept in the
holder provided on the cable sleeve.
‰ When drilling with the impact activated use
hearing protection. Exposure to the effects
of noise may cause hearing loss.
‰ Use the additional handle (additional
handles) if it is (they are) supplied with the
tool. Loss of control may cause injure people.
‰ When carrying out an activity where the
machining tool could touch hidden power
conductors or its own power cord, hold
the electromechanical tool by the insulated
surfaces. Touching the machining tool with
a "live" electrical conductor may cause the
exposed metal parts of the electromechanical
tool to become "live" and lead to injury of the
user by electric shock.

Intended Use

The machine is intended for impact drilling in
brick, concrete and stone as well as for drilling
in wood, metal, ceramics and plastics. Machines
with electronic control and right/left rotation are
also suitable for screwing and thread‑cutting.
The user alone is responsible for any liabilities
caused by usage other than intended.

Putting into Operation

Incorrect operation can lead to damage.
Therefore always observe the following
regulations:
‑ Sharp drill bits optimise performance whilst
minimizing wear on the machine.
‑ Do not place such loads on the machine that
it ceases to turn.
‑ Change rotational direction only when the
machine is not moving.
The power supply voltage must match the
information quoted on the tool identification
plate. Tools with a rating of 230 V can also be
connected to a 220 V / 240 V supply.
Connecting the mains cable module
(Plug it)
The machine is equipped with a quick‑change
mains cable module (9). By disconnecting
the mains cable and the machine, both can
be transported easier. Insert the mains cable
module (9) into the socket (17) of the machine
and secure by turning the sleeve (18) in
clockwise direction.
To undo the connection, turn the sleeve (18) in
counterclockwise direction and pull the mains
cable module (9) from the socket (17).
Use the mains cable module only for
PROTOOL power tools. Do not attempt to
operate other machines with it.
Auxiliary handle
For safety reasons always use the enclosed
auxiliary handle (14). Fasten the auxiliary handle
to the clamping collar (2) with the wing bolt (3).
By loosening the wing bolt (15) the drilling depth
can be adjusted with the depth stop adjustment
(16). The auxiliary handle is used to guide
the machine securely, especially with sudden
occuring reaction torque (e. g. jamming of the
drill bit).
