Cleaning the oven

Pyrolytic self-cleaning

CAUTION
Risk of burns!
During the pyrolytic self-cleaning pro-
cess, the exterior of the appliance also
becomes very hot.
■ Do not touch the oven door, and wait
until the appliance has cooled off,
even after the self-cleaning process is
complete.
■ Keep children away.
Fire hazard!
Loose food residue, grease and meat
juices can ignite during the pyrolytic
self-cleaning process.
■ Remove large bits of food or oth-
er contaminants from the cooking
compartment before each pyrolytic
self-cleaning process.
Health hazard!
The pyrolytic self-cleaning process de-
stroys the non-stick coating on baking
trays and moulds and toxic gases may
be emitted.
■ Never clean non-stick baking trays
and moulds in the pyrolytic self-clean-
ing process.
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Only pyrolysis-proof items may stay in the
cooking compartment during pyrolysis.
■ Remove the oven rack, baking tray,
dripping pan and oven rack guides
from the cooking compartment.
■ Empty out the cooking compartment.
The oven door locks during the pyro-
lytic self-cleaning process. The locking
mechanism will release automatically
once the interior of the appliance is suf-
fi ciently cooled off.
■ Never attempt to open the oven door
by force either during the pyrolyt-
ic process or before the cooling-off
phase has ended.
During the pyrolytic self-cleaning pro-
cess, the interior of the appliance be-
comes very hot.
■ Following the pyrolytic self-cleaning
process, do not disconnect the ap-
pliance from the mains for at least
one hour so that the blower can cool
down the interior of the appliance in
a controlled manner.
Generally speaking, the term "pyrolysis" de-
scribes dissolving substances by applying
heat. Pyrolysis heats the cooking compart-
ment up to 450 °C and turns dirt to ash which
can be easily wiped off later.
Pyrolytic cleaning is a good option for when
residue cannot be easily removed with a
sponge and water.
Starting pyrolysis
1. Switch off the hob's four zones.
The increased energy required for gener-
ating the high temperature in the cooking
compartment during pyrolysis does not al-
low for the hob to be operated simultane-
ously. In this case, the display would show
the symbol "----" upon starting pyrolysis
2. Completely empty the cooking chamber.
Remove the oven rack (3), baking tray (4)
and dripping pan (5) as well as the baking
tray guides (27) as described in section
"Cleaning baking tray guides and tele-
scopic oven rails" on page EN-29.
