If the measured current drops under 200 mA (AC/DC), connect the
red measuring cable to the mA-Input (7) and set the rotary switch
(4) to a lower measuring range (200 mA or 20 mA AC/DC). Discon-
nect the circuitry from the power supply before doing so.
4.3 Resistance Measurement Ω
Important Notice!
Never connect the measurement cables to the power source when
using the unit to carry out resistance measurements. This may
damage the device.
To avoid incorrect results, make sure that capacitors are dis-
charged before measurements are taken. This is because resis-
tance measurements are based on a comparison between a refer-
ence voltage and a known reference resistance value.
Measuring Procedure
1. Connect the red measuring cable to the V/Ω/F/°C/
the black measuring cable to the COM-Input (8).
2. Set the rotary switch (4) to the position required for resistance
measurement (Ω range (200 Ω - 200 MΩ)).
3. Connect the measuring cables with the resistor you intent to test.
4. The measured value is displayed in the display (1) in Ω, kΩ, or MΩ.
When switching through the measuring ranges, the decimal dot in
the display shifts according to the selected measuring range. Under
the dot the selected measuring range (200 Ω, 2 kΩ, 20 kΩ, 200 kΩ,
2 MΩ, 20 MΩ, and 200 MΩ) is displayed.
Notice:
When measuring resistances over 1 MΩ, it may take several
seconds until a stable measurement value is displayed.
When measuring small resistances in the 200 Ω range, the
accuracy of the measurement may be adversely influenced by the
inherent resistance of the measurement cables. To determine the
error before measurement, connect the measurement cables to the
input sockets of the unit and short the test leads. The displayed
value shows the inherent resistance of the measurement cables. To
obtain the correct result, this value must be deducted from the
