5.2 Jumper S1 bus power
detection
The SMdev interface module requires no
voltage from the DeviceNet to function
correctly. However, the voltage applied at
V+, V– is monitored. DeviceNet voltage
monitoring is switched on when the device is
delivered (Buspower detection = on, Fig. 2).

Jumper in on position: DeviceNet voltage

Jumper in off position: DeviceNet voltage
monitoring switched off. This operation mode
is only to be used when connected to a
network without bus power supply.

LED display when power is supplied: The
following sequence checks if the interface
module is functioning properly:
– 0.25 seconds red,
– 0.25 seconds green.
Meanings of LED displays in operation:
LED display Meaning
Off After the device starts and while
checking for a duplicate MAC ID;
no voltage or no connection
within the network
Green Network detected, connection to
master established, data is being
exchanged
Blinking green Network detected but connection
to master has not been
established; device is waiting for
the master to establish a
connection
Red Error in the interface module,
critical connection error, device
has detected a network error
(duplicate MAC ID or bus off)
Blinking red Error occurred while exchanging
data, connection monitoring time
elapsed, error can be reset
Blinking red/ Communication failed, serious
green communication error
