Overview:
The Cup Reamer Adapter may only be used in combination
with the cup reamer handles specified below:

Warning:
The Cup Reamer Adapter may only be used in
combination with the specified devices. BrainLAB does not
assume liability if the Cup Reamer Adapter is used in
combination with other devices.
Warning:
If the Cup Reamer Adapter is dropped or
otherwise damaged, it must be immediately returned to
BrainLAB for repair and testing.
Warning:
The Cup Reamer Adapter is a highly accurate,
precalibrated instrument and a sensitive medical device. It
must be handled with extreme care.
Attaching the Cup Reamer Adapter:
Before attaching the Cup Reamer Adapter to the reamer, make
sure that all the reflective marker spheres of the reference array
are in good condition.
1. First, slide the adapter over the reamer shaft (fig. 2).
2. Before securing the Cup Reamer Adapter, make sure that
the arrow on the Cup Reamer Adapter points toward the head
of the cup reamer (fig. 3). Otherwise, navigation will not be
correct.
Warning:
The Cup Reamer Adapter may only be attached
to the reamer with the arrow pointing towards the patient, i.e.
towards the head of the cup reamer.
3. Two nuts are used to ensure a tight attachment of the Cup
Reamer Adapter to the reamer, as shown in the image above
(fig. 4). Nut (1) is tightened first, followed by nut (2).
4. Tightening nut (1) will keep the sleeve of the Cup Reamer
Adapter from slipping. Tightening nut (2) prevents nut (1) from
moving or loosening. When tightening nut (2), make sure that
the reamer can still be easily rotated. Tight attachment will
ensure accurate reamer navigation.
Warning:
Make sure that both adjustment nuts are properly
tightened before navigation.
5. Once the Cup Reamer Adapter has been attached to the
reamer as described, verify the precalibration accuracy using
the ICM 4.0. Details are provided in the relevant Clinical User
Guide.
6. The reamer can now be navigated to the planned position.

Warning:
When using the Cup Reamer Adapter, make sure
that it is always pushed towards the head of the reamer. This
will ensure maximum accuracy.
Warning:
The Cup Reamer Adapter should not be used if
critical inaccuracies or loose attachment even after tightening
are noticed. In such cases, the device must be returned to
BrainLAB for testing and repair.
