About this guide

This manual contains operating instructions and technical
documentation for the emitter and receiver of all Balluff Light
Arrays of series D. A distinction is made between the stan-
dard version with analog and switching outputs and the
IO-Link version:

All specifications in this operating manual, especially the
safety instructions, must be strictly observed.
The guide is intended for qualified technical personnel.
Read this guide before you install and operate the Light
Array. This manual is to be stored so that it is always
accessible.

Laser class

This device is laser class 1. It is certified according to
DIN EN 60825-1:2015-07.
The laser source inside the sensor housing is class 3. The
sensor housing is completely sealed and the laser light is
attenuated by the optics inside so that only radiation of
class 1 can be emitted. The laser emission wavelength is
650nm (red light). The laser works with pulsed operation
(1:1 on/off ratio). The pulse duration is between 0.5 ms
and 2.5 ms. The typical output power in the laser pulse
depends on the size:
