Parameterization and functions (continued)
4.7.5

Temperature

The BLA has an internal temperature sensor that conti-
nuously monitors the temperature. It displays the current
temperature as well as the minimum and maximum tempe-
rature since power-on and for the entire lifetime.
In addition, it is possible to define limit values for the tempe-
rature. If these are exceeded, an error message is output via
IO-Link.
4.7.6

Emitter status

In this section, the emitter current, the temperature of the
emitter and the number of error messages from the emitter
are listed.
4.7.7

Emitter information

This section contains the ID number of the emitter and its
serial number. It also includes the emitter's operating hours
and number of starts.

Configuration of the analog outputs

These functions only affect the standard variants.
In the menu item Device Settings  Analog Output, the out-
puts can be set as voltage or current outputs. Depending on
the selection, the measured value of the BLA is output as
voltage from 0 V to 10 V or as current from 4 mA to 20 mA.
An inversion of these values is also possible, so that for
example an output value of 0 mm is outputted with 10 V.
4.9

Calibration of the analog outputs

With this function both analog outputs can be calibrated so
that the extreme values (0 and maximum length) of the ana-
log output values are output exactly as 0 V or 10 V (4 mA or
20 mA). This allows, for example, the influence of cable resi-
stances to be compensated. The setting is made separately
for output 1 and output 2 and separately for current and
voltage output.
NOTICE
Calibrate only the output type (current or voltage) you are
currently using in order not to damage the inputs of the
connected controller (PLC, analog-to-digital converter,
etc.) by incorrect control.
When the "calibrate U" function is called, 0 V is first output
at the selected output. The "Min" correction factor must
then be set so that 0 V is displayed at the analog input of the
used controller.
After confirming the setting, 10 V is automatically applied to
the output. The "Max" correction factor must now also be
set.
The calibration for the current output (calibrate I) works in
the same way. The correction factor "Min" must be selected
so that 4 mA is displayed on the analogue input of the used
control system. The sensor first outputs 4 mA at the current
output. Then follows the analog adjustment of the max.
value of 20 mA.

Configuration of the digital outputs

For each of the three digital outputs, the output type can be
set separately between NPN and PNP. In addition, each out-
put can be deactivated separately.
The variants BLA 100D-002-S4, BLA 72D-002-S4,
BLA 50D-002-S4 and BLA 32D-002-S4 are equipped with
an IO-Link interface. The following chapter only concerns
these variants.
