WARNING
Risk of explosion!
In explosion-hazard areas, electrostatic discharge may cause a spark to ignite
on the antenna.
► Do not clean antenna in explosion-hazard areas with a dry cloth. Use a
damp cloth for cleaning.
WARNING
Risk of explosion!
In explosion-hazard areas, electrostatic discharge may cause a spark to ignite
on the housing and sensing head.
► Do not clean housing and sensing head in explosion-hazard areas with a
dry cloth. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
WARNING
Risk of explosion!
Replacement of components may impair intrinsic safety.
In potentially explosive gas atmospheres, the gas detector can be serviced
without declassifying the area.
13.1

Sensor change

WARNING
Alarm cannot be detected!
After changing the sensor, the gas to be detected changes.
In burst mode Rising or Falling the trigger limit for the new type of gas must be
calibrated. The trigger limits are not calibrated automatically!
► After a sensor change, calibrate burst mode configuration (Burst Mode
Configuration) in reference to trigger limits.

WARNING
Alarm cannot be detected!
If a sensor type is changed (unintentionally), critical gas concentrations can be
detected with a delay.
► Avoid unintentional change of sensor type or activate sensor lock function.
The sensor can be replaced in a hazardous area without interrupting the supply
voltage. The sensor can be changed at any time.
When replacing with a sensor of the same type (same order number as the
current sensor), the configuration settings are retained. If a different sensor type
(different order number) is used, the configuration settings are overwritten with
the factory settings of the new sensor.
When the sensor lock feature is activated, the use of sensors with different
order numbers is blocked. If necessary, deactivate the sensor lock feature.

13.1.1 Replace sensor

1. Replace the old sensor with a new sensor:
a. Loosen the locking screw (Fig. B 2).
b. Unscrew the bayonet ring (Fig. B 3).
c. Remove old sensor.
 Device variable status "Bad" is emitted.
d. Insert new sensor (Fig. B 4) into opening.
Align Dräger logo with marking on housing (Fig. B 5).
 Device variable status "Bad" is emitted.
e. Secure the sensor with the bayonet ring.
f.
Tighten the locking screw. Required for installation in Zone 22.
2. If necessary, attach the tag supplied with the sensor to the gas detector.
3. The sensor warm-up time is displayed in PolySoft.
 The device variable status "Bad" persists until warm-up phase 1 is
completed. Maximum warm-up time of a new sensor: see the
instructions for use of the sensor.
4. Calibrate the gas detector after completion of warm-up phase 2.
