or the backup material are not long enough to reach the
column, clamp them to the table. Failure to do this could
result in personal injury.
Note: for small pieces (A) that cannot be clamped to the
table, use a drill press vise (Optional accessory).
The vice (B) must be clamp or bolt (C) to the table to
avoid injury from spinning work and vise or tool break-
age.
Drilling a hole.
Make a dent in the workpiece where you want the hole,
using a center punch or a sharp nail. Before turning the
switch on, bring the drill down to the workpiece lining it
up with the hole location.
Turn the switch on and pull down on the feed handles
with onIy enough effort to allow the drill to cut.
FEEDING TOO SLOWLY might cause the drill bit to burn.
FEEDING TOO RAPIDLY might stop the motor, cause the
bett or drill to slip, tear the workpiece loose, or break the
drill bit.
When drilling metal, it may be necessary to lubricate the
tip of the drill with motor oil to prevent burning the drill
bit.

Maintenance

WARNING:
For your own safety, turn the switch off and remove plug
from power source outlet before any operation of mainte-
nance on our drill press.
Keep your appliance clean.
Be careful some household cleaning products and sol-
vents such as benzine, trichloroethene, chloride, ammo-
nium, etc., can damage plastic parts.
To avoid motor darnage, blow out or vacuurn frequently
this motor to keep drill press dust from interfering with
normal motor ventilation.
Power cord.
To avoid shock or fire hazard, if the power cord is worm or
cut, or damaged in any way, have it replace immediately.
Lubrication.
All of the ball bearings are packed with grease at the fac-
tory. No further lubrication is required.
Periodically lubricate the splines -grooves -in the spindle
and the rack.
To lubricate the splines, bring do~ the quill and ject the
grease into the spindle from the top of the pulley. Bring
the quill up and down a few times. To lubricate the rack,
bring down the quill and apply grease to the outer surface
of the quill. Bring the quill up and down a few times.
Remarque: Pour de petites pièces à usiner (A) qui ne
peuvent pas être serrées sur la table, utiliser un étau (ac-
cessoire en option).
L'étau (B) doit être serré ou vissé sur la table afin d'éviter
des blessures dues aux pièces à usiner en rotation ou à
l'étau et afin d'éviter la destruction des outils.
Perçage d'un trou
Marquer l'endroit à percer sur la pièce à usiner à l'aide
d'un pointeau ou d'un clou bien pointu. Avant de mettre
la machine à percer en marche, abaisser le foret sur la
pièce à usiner et centrer au-dessus de l'endroit à percer.
Mettre la machine en marche et appuyer le foret douce-
ment sur la pièce à usiner de sorte qu'il fasse une dé-
coupe propre.
Dans le cas d'une avance insuffisante il y a risque
d'échauffement du foret.
Quand l'avance est trop importante il y a danger de blo-
cage du moteur, de patinage de la courroie trapézoïdale
ou du foret, de décrochement de la pièce à usiner ou
même de destruction du foret.
S'il s'agit de percer du métal, il peut être nécessaire de
refroidir le foret avec un liquide approprié.
Maintenance
Avertissement:
Pour votre sécurité, arrêter l'appareil et tirer la fiche de
la prise de courant avant d'entreprendre des travaux de
maintenance sur votre machine à percer.
Maintenir l'appareil propre
Veiller à n'utiliser que des produits de nettoyage sans
essence, trichloréthane, chlore, ammoniac, etc. car ces
substances chimiques peuvent attaquer les matières
plastiques. Afin d'éviter des dommages sur le moteur dus
à la poussière de perçage, passer le moteur régulièrement
à l'aspirateur ou le nettoyer par soufflage.
Câble d'alimentation
S'il est endommagé, le câble d'alimentation doit être
remplacé immédiatement afin de prévenir des risques de
choc électrique ou d'incendie.
Graissage
Tous les roulements à billes sont graissés en usine et ne
nécessitent pas de graissage ultérieur.
Graisser régulièrement toutes les rainures dans la broche
et la crémaillère.
Pour le graissage de l'entraînement, faire descendre l'axe
et introduire la graisse par le haut dans la broche (sous le
couvercle supérieur). Ensuite déplacer l'axe plusieurs fois
vers le haut et vers le bas.
Pour graisser la crémaillère, abaisser l'axe et graisser la
surface extérieure de l'axe.
