The split washer on the LimbLogic M
makes it possible to determined the
amount of deflection of the spring.
When the vacuum pump is installed on
the prosthesis, it can be used to assess
the maximum deflection of the spring
with the following method: Push the
split washer as far proximal as possible
(Fig. 6).

Ask the user to make a few steps,
ideally at his usual walking speed.
The distance by which the split washer
is pushed towards distal shows the
distance which the pump unit travels
during the gait cycle.
Risk of Pinching! Never put your
hand close ot the pump while it in
operation once it has been instal-
led in the prosthesis and weight
is put on it (Fig. 7).

Technician's Tip:
For good pump capacity the distance
that the spring travels should be as
large as possible, i.e. the spring pre-
load should not be too high. At the
same time the top edge of the pyramid
should not hit the pump body (spring
pre-load would then be too weak).
Adjust the spring pre-load as follows:
Insert a 4 mm hex key into the drill hole of
the pyramid. You will now be able to ad-
just the interior hex socket screw (Fig. 8).
