Assembling the actuator

The actuator is normally mounted and adjusted on the valve.
For valves with bellows seal, the valve stem must not be turned, otherwise the seal will be damaged.
When removing the actuator, the valve spindle can be pushed upwards by the pressure of the medium.
3.3

Electrical connection

The electrical connection must only be made in accordance to the attached wiring diagram.
Observe the safety regulations for the electrical connection.
Before connecting, check the type of current, mains voltage and frequency against the data on the type plate.

"Venting" the emergency closing unit

It is recommended to "bleed" the emergency closing unit before putting it into operation. The procedure is described in the
maintenance chapter.

Commissioning

The control valves are adjusted and functionally tested in the factory. It is therefore not necessary to adjust the actuators.
Commissioning (start-up) may only be carried out after the points in section 3, "Installation and connection" have been completed.
As long as the solenoid valve of the emergency closing unit is not energized, the valve plug cannot be moved, i.e. the
valve cannot be opened.
The following points must be checked and observed during commissioning (start-up):
• Functionality of the emergency closing unit
check the control of the emergency closing unit in case of power failure. Particularly with automatic release, care must
be taken to ensure that the solenoid valve closes at the right time so that the actuator can move the piston. The lines
of the emergency closing unit must be checked for leaks.
• Leak-tightness of stem and valve
for stem seals with pure graphite it may be necessary to retighten the press packing. All other stem seals are
maintenance-free due to a pre-tensioned spring packing.
