Cleaning
Striking the arc
• The plasma pilot arc is struck by a high frequency pulse when the
switch (on manual torch) is actuated and after a certain preliminary
gas flow period. Exception: PSB 31 with KZS or KKS fittings
(short-circuit ignition).
• Ensure that the cutting nozzle is not positioned against the part when starting
the arc or during the soft start period.
• Use the accessories to maintain the optimum stand-off for the cutting process
between the cutting nozzle and part.
• The cutting arc is struck on the part. The cutting jet is interrupted
when contact to the workpiece is discontinued or the control
voltage is interrupted with the button.
• It is very important to observe the gas post flow delay for cooling the torch
as specified in the operating instructions.
• Put the cutting torch down so that the control switch cannot be actuated so as to
prevent unintentional striking of the arc.
Before replacing consumables, cleaning, maintenance and repair:
1. Switch off power supply.
2. Close off gas supply.
Make sure that these remain off throughout the entire time you
are servicing the machine.
Cable assembly
– Check the screw fittings and inserted connections to make sure they are
tight.
– Replace any damaged, deformed or worn parts or send them for repair.
Cutting torch
– Ensure that all threaded fittings are tight.
– Replace damage, deformed or worn components.
– Clean the cutting torch head regularly to remove cutting spatter.
– Check the consumables for visible damage and replace if necessary.
– Check the fuse terminal for its spring-loaded function.
Clean the contact surfaces of the fuse terminal and torch contact pins if
required to ensure safe contacting.
