2. Description of the Devices

The Smartsigns® LITE Series are a range of automated, non-invasive blood
pressure monitors, designed to measure blood pressure using an upper
arm cuff.
2.1

Recommended Clinical Applications

The Smartsigns® LITE Series measures systolic and diastolic blood
pressures and pulse rates in subjects three years of age or older.
The SL510 has an additional temperature measuring capability in subjects
three years of age or older.
The Smartsigns® LITE Series is intended for use in physicians' offices,
nursing units, and patient care areas of hospitals.
Three separate models are available:

The Smartsigns® LITE Series
has two modes:
M M a a n n u u a a l l M M o o d d e e is designed to
take a single blood pressure
measurement.
A A u u t t o o m m a a t t i i c c M M o o d d e e takes six
measurements, discards the
first, and displays the average
of the last five readings. The
cycle time, can be selected in
Automatic Mode. Readings can
be reviewed in both Manual
and Automatic Modes.
The S S L L 5 5 0 0 0 0 -A A C C is mains
operated only.
The S S L L 5 5 0 0 0 0 -B B A A T T and S S L L 5 5 1 1 0 0
models include a rechargeable battery so can be mains or battery operated,
and a USB Port. The S S L L 5 5 1 1 0 0 also includes electronic thermometry which,
when used with the appropriate temperature probe and probe cover, can be
used to collect continuous oral, axillary and rectal temperatures and single
