In order to ensure ground continuity, all pump components must be earthed from the
designated locations (ECP) marked with the 511878 label.
The electrical specifications of the motor must correspond to the mains power supply (voltage, frequency,
current).
Observe the implementation in accordance with EN60079-14 standard to ensure that the
pump is explosion-proof.
If necessary, change the position of the jumpers in the motor terminal box according to the available
voltage. The motor must be protected by a magneto-thermal circuit breaker designed to operate in the
pump installation area (hazardous area as defined in Directive 1999/92/EC). Adjust the rating of the circuit-
breaker in relation to the current indicated on the motor. (D-curve circuit breaker).
If the magneto-thermal circuit breaker cuts off the power supply to the pump:
Find the cause of the fault and eliminate it
Wait until the oil temperature has cooled to room temperature before starting the pump again.
The pumps are designed for direct start-up. The motors must be marked with EC marking in accordance
with Directive 2014/34/EU: marking II 2 G IIB T4 mini and II 2 D IIIC T135°C mini according to zones.
The pumps are designed for direct start-up.
The motors are IP66 for Gas zones IIB and IP65 for Dust zones IIIC.
The maximum recommended number of starts is limited to 6 to 10 per hour depending on the power rating
(see § 3.2.).

Temperature control

The vacuum pump is equipped with a PT100 [3-wire] ATEX [EEx d IIC T6] probe with a 4-20 mA output,
calibrated 0°C/150°C to remotely transfer the pump temperature information.
In order to comply with the temperature class of the vacuum pump (class T4) in the event of a malfunction
of the pump, it is necessary, for safety reasons, to switch off the pump at an abnormal temperature rise.
The pump stop threshold must be set at 120°C.
When connecting the sensor, respect the instructions of the sensor manufacturer given in the appendix.
For sensor management, refer to EN80079-37 §6.5.
The well-functioning of the temperature sensor is tested before delivery.

Commissioning

Before starting the pump, check its oil level (see § 3.1.3.).
It is strictly forbidden to operate the vacuum pump with the closing plates removed or the
motor terminal box open.
When starting the pump for the first time (no oil in the pump housing), it is imperative to run
the pump in the open air for 30 seconds in order to lubricate all the assembly before the
pumping of an explosive fluid.
Turn on the pump momentarily to check the direction of rotation (red arrow on the electric motor). If
necessary, change the direction by switching over two wires on the motor power supply.
Operation in the wrong direction of rotation can damage the vacuum pump.
Switch the pump on again and after three minutes of operation, stop the pump to top up the oil level if
necessary.
During pump operation, the following parameters must be monitored:
Oil temperature,
Vacuum level,
Noise level,
Vibrations,
Motor current.
If an anomaly is detected in any of these parameters, the vacuum pump must be stopped immediately.
In case of pumping condensable vapours:
Use open gas ballast.
Due to the suction by gas ballast, the presence of other sources of pollution can result in the
suction of undesirable substances which can involve ATEX zone classification change inside
the pump.
The mixture of two aspirated substances can lead to an exothermic reaction, resulting in a
hot spot.
When restarting after a shut-down for more than one hour, allow the vacuum pump to heat up,
with closed suction and open gas ballast before use. It is recommended to follow this advice for
about 30 minutes.
After use, run the vacuum pump with closed suction and open gas ballast. It is recommended to
follow this advice for about 30 minutes.
The purpose of this procedure is to limit the formation of condensate inside the pump.
The maximum permissible water vapour pressure (Pwo) and pumping capacity of the water vapour (Cwo)
values given in the table in § 1.3 are only valid if the gas ballast is open and the pump has reached its
stabilized operating temperature at an ambient temperature of 20°C.
