11. LITHIUM BATTERIES (LIPO, LIION, LIFE)

a) General Information

This charge program is only suited for batteries with Lithium technology, „LiPo",
„LiIon" and „LiFe". The respective battery type, which you want to connect to
the charger, must be set prior to starting a charge/discharge procedure (in the
„User" settings, see chapter 16).
If the rechargeable battery has a balancer connection, the balancer connecting
must be connected to the charger as well as the rechargeable battery's cable
for charging/discharging.
Select the correct balancer connection for your number of cells.
There are different types of balancer plug. Therefore, do not apply any force
when the plug does not fit! The matching adapters for the balancer plugs are
available as accessories.
When using a balancer (integrated in the charger, all cells of a multi-cell
battery pack have the same voltage after the charge process, which prevents
the overcharging of individual cells (danger of fire and explosion) or a deep
discharge of one of the cells (damage to the rechargeable battery).
The charging current to be set depends on the battery capacity and build (see
chapter 7). Observe the instructions of the battery manufacturer.
In the main menu (for display, see chapter 9), select the battery program „LiPo BATT" with
the button „BATT TYPE/STOP" (see following note) and confirm your selection with the
„START/ENTER" button.
Depending on the battery type selected in the „User" settings (chapter 16), the
display shows „LiPo BATT" (basic setting at delivery), „LiIo BATT" or „LiFe BATT".
Check whether the battery type (e.g. „LiPo") indicated on the display coincides with
the battery you want to charge/discharge.
If you want to charge LiIon or LiFe batteries, you will have to select the correct
battery type in the „User" settings (chapter 16) first!
