Product description

The ultrasonic sensor LUC4 is especially designed for level measurement of liquids. It is particularly suitable for
aggressive media due to it teflon coating. The fixed target suppression allows the use in places where braces and
insertions are in the direction of sound.
The LUC4 series has a 4 ... 20 mA current and a 0 ... 10 V voltage output by standard. It shows fail-save behavior
when failures occur.

2.1 Application recommendations

Function principle

Ultrasonic sensors are used for level control measuring the running time of ultrasonic pulses. This method evaluates
the time an ultrasonic pulse takes to travel from the sensor to the medium and (after reflection by surface) back to
the sensor. This time is in inverse proportion to the level and is converted by the electronics accordingly. The
dependency of the sound velocity from temperature may be compensated when needed.

- level measurement all types of liquids (including aggressive ones)
- flow measurement (with additional analyzer unit)
- tight measurement in a range of 0,3 ... 4 m
- evaluation with an additional analyzer unit

The ultrasonic sensors are especially designed for the level measurement of liquids. Other media might reduce the
measurement range and / or the accuracy. If an extreme surface motion should occur, a less accurate measurement
may result.
