The noise pressure level should be reduced as
far as possible depending on use and the activi-
ties to be completed so that the health of the op-
erator is not endangered. The noise pressure lev-
el at the workplace can exceed 80 dB (A). In this
case, noise protection measures are required for
the operator (e.g. wearing hearing protection).
Keep the noise emissions and vibrations to am
minimum!
• Only use appliances which are in perfect working
order.
• Service and clean the appliance regularly.
• Adapt your working style to suit the appliance.
• Do not overload the appliance.
• Have the appliance serviced whenever necessary.
• Switch the appliance off when it is not in use.
• Wear protective gloves.

7. Before starting up

WARNING!:
Before doing any work on the guide bar or chain,
always switch off the engine and pull the plug
cap off the spark plug (see „Replacing the spark
plug"). Always wear protective gloves!
WARNING!:
Do not start the saw until it has been completely
assembled and inspected!
7.1 Mounting the claw stop (Fig. 2)
Position the spike bar (21) in the groove of the chassis
(see fig. 2) and fasten it with the 2 fastening screws
(A). Use the screwdriver provided on the assembly
tool (23) for this.
To cut with the chainsaw, place the stop directly
on the wood to be cut. It is also recommended to
use the stopper claw to cut branches of large di-
ameter.

The stopper claw is firmly attached to the wood
before cutting with a running chainsaw. Lift the
end of the chain saw with the rear handle and
guide it with the bow handle. The claw serves
as a fulcrum. The transfer takes place by light-
ly pressing the handle. The saw can thus be eas-
ily withdrawn. Insert the claw and raise the rear
handle again.
7.2 Mounting the guide bar and saw chain
(Fig. 3/5)
Use the universal wrench (23) delivered with the
chain saw for the following work:
Put the saw on a stable surface and carry out the fol-
lowing steps to install the chain (1) and guide bar (2):
• Release the chain brake by pulling the hand guard
(3) in the direction of the arrow (see also Fig. 3).
• Unscrew retaining nuts (16) + (16a).
• Pull chain guard (17) slightly apart, pull out of its
mounting (B) and remove.
• Turn the chain adjusting screw (C) to the left (coun-
terclockwise) until the pin (D) is at the right stop.
(see Fig. 4)
• Put on the guide bar (2) (see Fig. 5).
• Lift the chain (1) over the sprocket (E). Using your
right hand, guide the chain into the top guide groove
(F) on the guide bar (2). Note that the cutting edges
along the top of the chain (1) must point in the direc-
tion of the arrow (see Fig. 6)!
• Pull the chain (1) around the sprocket nose (G) of
the guide bar (2) in the direction of the arrow (Fig.
7).
• First, push the sprocket guard (17) into its fixture
(B), then push it over the retaining bolts (I) while lift-
ing the saw chain (1) over the chain catch (20). En-
sure that the pin (D) of the chain tensioner (C) en-
gages in the hole on the saw bar (fig. 8).
• Manually tighten the retaining nuts (16) + (16a).
7.3 Tightening the saw chain Fig. 5/8/9
• By simultaneously firmly pushing in and turning
the sprocket guard quick tensioner (C, clockwise),
screw in the sprocket guard (F) but do not tighten
it. (see circle)
• Lift the tip of the guide bar slightly and turn the
chain tensioner (C) clockwise until the chain (1) en-
gages in the guide groove on the underside of the
guide bar (see circle).
• Push the sprocket guard quick tensioner (16) +
(16a) in again and tighten clockwise with the uni-
versal wrench (23).
7.4 Checking the chain tension Fig. 10
The tension of the chain (1) is correct if the chain (1)
rests against the bottom side of the guide bar and can
still be easily turned by hand.
While doing so the chain brake (3) must be released.
