Major functions updated with V4.0
Compatible with the Picture Cache function
The PMW-F5/F55 is compatible with the Picture Cache function
that allows you to begin recording a specified number of seconds
in advance of the time.
This function is available for the SxS memory recording with the
recording format of XAVC 4096×2160P, XAVC 3840×2160P, XAVC
2048×1080P, XAVC 1920×1080P, MPEG 1920×1080P/i, or MPEG
1280×720P recording formats (XAVC is available only when the
system frequency is set to 23.98, 24.0, 25.0, or 29.97).
An advance of up to 18 seconds can be set (when using MPEG
Format).
Compatible with the User Menu
The User Menu is added on the top of the menu so that the user
can access the desired menu item easily.
Up to 20 menu items can be registered/edited. The customized
User Menu item can be stored on an SD card as an User Menu
Item file, and loaded from the SD card.
Compatible with the sub display menu
The setup menu can be displayed on the sub display. You can
perform menu operations only on the PMW-F5/F55.
Compatible with the MPEG Proxy function for the SStP
recording (PMW-F55 only)
The PMW-F55 is compatible with the MPEG Proxy function
(simultaneously recording in one slot) when the recording format
is set to SStP SR-SQ 444/SStP SR-SQ 422, and the system
frequency is set to 29.97P.
Compatible with the marker color setting
You can set the marker color from White / Yellow / Cyan / Green /
Magenta / Red / Blue.
The auto iris level indication is added
The setting value is displayed on the viewfinder screen when
"Level" in "Auto Exposure" of the Camera menu is set to a value
other than "±0. "
Compatible with the video bandwidth selection for the
HD/2K video output
You can select the video bandwidth of the HD/2K video signal
from "Wide" (wide bandwidth) (conventional setting) and
"Narrow" (narrow bandwidth).
Compatible with User 3D LUT
The PMW-F5/F55 can import a CUBE file (*.cube) of 17 or 33
lattices that is created by RAW Viewer or BMD's Da Vinci Resolve*.
The Gamma option is added
"S-Log3" is added to the "Gamma" option of the Paint menu.
The Color Space option is added
"S-Gamut3" of wide color gamut is added to the "Color Space"
option in "Base Setting" of the System menu.
The Matrix options are added (PMW-F55 only)
"10: S-Gamut3.Cine Like" and "11: S-Gamut3 Like" are added to the
"Preset Select" option in "Matrix" of the Paint menu.
The Lens RET button can be used for the assignable button
The Lens RET button on the connected lens can be used for the
assignable button.
The HDMI output formats are added (PMW-F55 only)
3840×2160 59.94P/50P/29.97P/25P/23.98P, 4096×2160
29.97P/25P are added for the HDMI output format.
Optional accessory is added
CBK-DCB01 (DEMAND CONVERTER BOX) can be used with the
PMW-F5/F55.

camcorder, contact a Sony service representative.
Major functions updated with V3.0
Recording format is added
The PMW-F5/F55 is compatible with XAVC 3840 × 2160P.
Available system frequency settings are 23.98, 25.0, 29.97, 50.0,
59.94.
The PMW-F5/F55 is compatible with MPEG 1280 × 720P. Available
system frequency settings are 50.0, 59.94. The video output
format is HD 1280 × 720P or SD signal.
Slow & Quick Motion function
The PMW-F5/F55 is compatible with the Slow & Quick Motion
function when the recording format is XAVC 4096 × 2160P or
XAVC 3840 × 2160P. Available frame rate is 1 to 60P.
When the recording format is XAVC 2048 × 1080P or XAVC
1920 × 1080P, the available frame rate is expanded; 1 to 180P
(System Frequency: 23.98, 24.0, 29.97, 59.94) and 1 to 150P
(System Frequency: 25.0, 50.0) are available.
When Main Operation is set to RAW, the available frame rate is
expanded; 1 to 240P are available.
Imager Scan Mode is added
The PMW-F5/F55 shoots with the 4K Super 35 mm size for less
than 60P frame rate, and the 2K size for more than 60P frame rate.
In addition to this, the PMW-F5/F55 is compatible with the 2K Full
mode that allows shooting with the 2K Super 35 mm size, and
with the 2K Center mode that allows shooting the center area of
Super 35 mm with 2K size.
Any string is available for the clip name
The PMW-F5/F55 is compatible with clip names of any string +
clip number.
Digital Audio input
Digital audio signal of the AES/EBU format can be input. Four-
channel audio input is available by two AES/EBU signals.
RAW playback via the camcorder's output connector
Playback video of a RAW signal that is recorded on the AXS-R5
attached to the PMW-F5/F55, can be output from the output
connector of the PMW-F5/F55.
Scene File and Lens File can be loaded/saved from/to an SD
card
Up to 64 Scene Files and Up to 64 Lens Files can be saved on an
SD card. Saved files can be loaded and written back to the
internal memory.
Cine EI mode for YPbPr/RGB
In addition to being available while RAW recording, Cine EI mode
is also available while YPbPr or RGB recording to an SxS memory
card, without using AXS-R5.
New color gamut and gamma curve
S-Gamut3.Cine is available and easy to adjust for digital cinema
(DCIP3). S-Log3 is also available, which is a log signal with 1300%
dynamic range, close to Cineon Log curve, and has the
characteristics of film.
Monitor LUT function
4 types of Sony Look Profile and User LUT (1D) are added for
Monitor LUT selection. You can create User LUT by using RAW
Viewer, and up to 6 User LUT can be stored on the internal
memory via an SD card.
You can set Monitor LUT on/off independently for
SDI(Main)&Internal Rec, SDI(Sub)&HDMI, and Viewfinder.
