Major functions updated with V9.0
Frame rates for 4K and high frame rate recordings added
72, 75, 90, 96, and 100 FPS have been added to the available
values in "Frame Rate" when the AXS-R7 is attached to the
PMW-F55, and high frame rate recordings in 4K RAW or 4K X-OCN
format are performed.
Compatible with the "Parallel Rec" mode with CBK-WA100
attached
The camcorder is compatible with the "Parallel Rec" mode. The
"Parallel Rec" mode enables synchronization with the same file
name between the XAVC Proxy recording by using the wireless
adapter CBK-WA100 that is connected to SDI OUT 1/2 and the
camcorder recording.
Note
CBK-WA100 with software version 3.0 or later can be used on this
camcorder.
XAVC HD Long added (when the system frequency is set to
29.97 or 59.94)
The camcorder can record and play back with XAVC HD Long
(1920 × 1080).
When the system frequency is set to 59.94, you can select 25M,
35M, or 50M mode.
When the system frequency is set to 29.97, you can select 35M or
50M mode.

Compatible with the AXS-R7
The PMW-F55/F5 is compatible with the portable memory
recorder AXS-R7.
The following functions are available by attaching the AXS-R7 to
the camcorder.
• 4K 120fps recording
4K 120FPS picture can be recorded to the AXS memory card.
When the system frequency is set to 23.98P, slow motion
picture in 4K at 5× slower speed can be recorded.
• New format X-OCN recording
In addition to the F55RAW recording mode, a new format
X-OCN, which can record more effectively, is available.
• Picture Cache function
The Picture Cache function is also available for recording to an
AXS memory card. The Cache Rec Time can be selected up to
30 seconds.
Compatible with XAVC 4K/QFHD Class480 (PMW-F55 and
PMW-F5 + CBKZ-55FX only)
XAVC 4K Class480 can be recorded/played when the system
frequency is set to 23.98, 24.0, 25.0, or 29.97, and XAVC QFHD
Class480 can be recorded/played when the system frequency is
set to 23.98, 25.0, or 29.97.

Compatible with the new G series and M series for XQD
memory cards
The new G series (QD-G32E, QD-G64E, QD-G128E) and M series
(QD-M32A, QD-M64A, QD-M128A) have been added to the XQD
memory card lineup, which can be used with the camcorder.
* The XQD ExpressCard adapter (QDA-EX1) is required to use an
XQD memory card.
Like the existing G series, the new G series can be used with all
recording formats and also when "High Frame Rate Mode" is set
to "On" or "Off." The M series, like the N series, can be used with
MPEG 1920 × 1080 P/i and 1280 × 720 P.

Quick menu added
The quick menu, which is displayed in the sub display by pressing
the OPTION button, has been added.
The quick menu deploys up to eight useful setting items in the
six categories (Project/Monitoring/MLUT/Media/Viewfinder/
Others) respectively.
This allows you to confirm and change the setting contents
easily.
Compatible with MPEG2 Proxy in XAVC 4096 × 2160/XAVC
3840 × 2160 59.94P/50P
When the recording format is set to XAVC 4096 × 2160/XAVC
3840 × 2160 and the system frequency is set to 59.94P/50P, the
MPEG2 Proxy function is enabled.
Note
You cannot format and restore a memory card during
simultaneous recording.
Compatible with the ITU-R BT.2020's matrix correction
(PMW-F55 only)
12: ITU-2020 is added to the "Preset Select" setting value in
"Matrix" of the Paint menu.
The ITU-R BT.2020's matrix correction is available for the output
signal of the 4K or QFHD or video signal recorded on XAVC
4096 × 2160 P or XAVC 3840 × 2160 P.
Notes
• For the 2K/HD outputting signal or viewfinder, the matrix
correction equivalent to ITU-R BT.709 operates while "12: ITU-
2020" is selected.
• When the playback picture of XAVC 4096 × 2160 P or XAVC
3840 × 2160 P which is set to the 12: ITU-2020 and recorded is
output via 2K or HD, the video image does not have the correct
colors.
Available range of zebra pattern has been enlarged
The available range of "Zebra1 Level" in "Zebra" of the VF menu is
enlarged from "50% to 107%" to "0% to 107%" and that of "Zebra2
Level" is enlarged from "52% to 109%" to "0% to 109%. "
Image quality is improved when User Gamma is used
Correction was made so that when you apply the User Gamma
that is created in the HDC series to the PMW-F5/F55, the gamma
curve becomes the same as that of the HDC series by adjusting
the pedestal level etc.
Response of the status screen has been improved
The switching speed of the status screen displayed to a
viewfinder and external video monitor was improved.
