Operation

KTS 525 can be linked with the PC/Laptop via wireless
connection (Bluetooth) or via the USB interface. Insert
the Bluetooth USB adapter in the PC/Laptop for a
wireless connection.

Notes concerning controller diagnosis

The KTS 525 is supplied with voltage either via the
power supply unit provided or the OBD interface in the
vehicle.

In testing steps that require starting the motor, the
battery voltage may drop to a point that the supply
is no longer guaranteed via the vehicle. In such
cases it may be necessary to run the KTS 525 by way
of the power supply unit.

On some vehicles, the power supply through the
OBD interface may only be fed after switching the
ignition on.
The connection to the diagnosis interface in the vehicle
is made via

the OBD diagnostics cable (fig. 3, pos. 2) or
R
the OBD diagnostics cable and the UNI connecting
cable (fig. 3, pos. 3; special accessories) or
R
the OBD diagnostics cable and a vehicle-specific
adapter line (special accessories).

Make sure the OBD diagnostic cable is properly
connected to the KTS 525. Incorrect connection
could cause the pins of the connector to bend
or break off. Only use the OBD diagnostic cable
contained in the scope of delivery.

3.6.3

Firmware update

The firmware update must always be done using
the USB connection cable (not via Bluetooth) with
KTS 525.
Following an update of ESI[tronic] 2.0, the firmware of
the KTS 525 is updated automatically when the control
unit diagnosis is started.
To update the firmware, supply the KTS 525 using the
provided power supply and connect to the PC/Laptop
using the USB connection cable. During the firmware
update, the USB connection is not to be interrupted.
The firmware update can also be done using DDC
(Diagnostic Device Configuration) (see Online help DDC).
