1.1.1.4 Glass Funnels, 16306 /16307
– Make certain that the blue silicone
gasket is seated properly in the
groove on the upstream side of the
filter unit.
– Screw adapter no. 16836 (for the
16306 glass funnel) or no.
16837 (for the 16307 glass
funnel) into the filter unit thread on
the manifold, forming a tight seal.
– Insert the base of the glass funnel
into the stopper of the adapter, and
attach the white filter support on
top of the base.
– Remove a membrane filter from
the package, and centre it on the
filter support. For further instruc-
tions on how to perform the
analysis, please refer to Section 3
"Microbiology" and/or Section 4
"Analyses."
– You can now easily and securely
connect the upper part and base
of the glass funnel using the
metal clamp.
1.1.1.5 Polycarbonate Filter Holder,
16511
– Make certain that the blue silicone
gasket is seated properly in the
groove on the upstream side of the
filter unit.
– Screw the polycarbonate filter
holder into the filter unit thread on
the manifold, forming a tight seal.
– For further instructions on how to
perform the analysis, please refer
to the Directions for Use
accompanying the filter holder.
1.2 Individual Filter
Holder Systems:
Please refer to the last fold out page
for more detailed information on these
systems.
1.2.1 Assembling the Individual
Filter Holder Systems:
There are two different kinds of filtrate
flasks available for the individual filter
holders: a 2-liter flask, (no. 16672),
with a plastic safety connector, and a
1-liter flask, (no. 16606), with a glass
connector. Refer to the following
funnel descriptions to obtain the order
numbers for the silicone stoppers (in
12
parentheses) which fit the 16672
2-liter flask (and the 16606 1-liter
flask).
1.2.1.1 BioSart
®
250 Funnels, 16407
– Attach the 16841 stainless steel
single base to the 17173 (17004)
silicone stopper and insert the
stopper into the opening of the
filtrate flask. By turning the single
base, position the two pins so that
they are either right/left or
front/back.
– Insert the flat silicone gasket into
the single base, and place the
stainless steel filter support onto the
silicone gasket.
– Attach a Minisart SRP 25 (17575
ACK) to the side opening of the
three-way valve.
– Remove a membrane filter from the
package, and centre it on the
stainless steel filter support. For
further instructions on how to
perform the analysis, please refer
to Section 3 "Microbiology"
and/or Section 4 "Analyses."
– Place the BioSart 250 funnel onto
the base so that it fits precisely,
and clamp down the membrane
filter by simply turning the funnel
clockwise.
1.2.1.2 BioSart
®
100 Monitors,
16401, 16402, 16403
– Insert the 16841 stainless steel
single base into the 17173
(17004) silicone stopper and
insert the stopper into the opening
of the filtrate flask.
– Insert the flat silicone gasket into
the single base, and place the
stainless steel filter support onto the
silicone gasket.
– Attach a Minisart SRP 25 (17575
ACK) to the side opening on the
three-way valve.
– Place the BioSart 100 Adapter
(16409) onto the 16841 stainless
steel single base so that the pins on
the support fit into the two notches
on the adapter.
– You can now easily and safely
attach and/or remove the
Monitors individually. The 47 mm
Monitors provide a seal via the
internal groove and the 56 mm
Monitors, via the external edge.
This unique design is to guarantee
uniform distribution of the residue
on the membrane surface when the
Monitor is positioned absolutely
level.
1.2.1.3 Stainless Steel Funnels,
691004/6981065/6981002
– Insert the 16841 single stainless
steel base into the 17173
(17004) silicone stopper and
insert the stopper into the opening
of the filtrate flask. By turning the
single base, position the two pins
so that they are either right/left
or front/back.
– Insert the flat silicone gasket into
the single base, and place the
stainless steel filter support onto the
silicone gasket.
– Attach a Minisart SRP 25 (17575
ACK) to the side opening on the
three-way valve.
– Remove a membrane filter from the
package, and centre it on the
stainless steel filter support. For
further instructions on how to
perform the analysis, please refer
to Section 3 "Microbiology"
and/or Section 4 "Analyses."
– Place the stainless steel funnel onto
the base so that it fits precisely,
and lock the funnel in place using
the clamp (just lightly push down
on the quick-lock clamp to secure
the parts; there is no need to force
the clamp down to it's full extent).
– If you are using a lid to prevent
airborne contamination, place the
silicone seal into the lid first, then
close the stainless steel funnel with
the lid (only applies to the
6981004).
