SAFETY REGULATIONS

TO BE OBSERVED SCRUPULOUSLY
IMPORTANT - READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE MACHINE
KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE AND ITS RANGE OF USE
This machine is a garden equipment, namely a pedestrian controlled lawnmower.
The machine is essentially composed of a motor which drives a blade enclosed in a
casing, equipped with wheels and a handle. The operator is able to operate the machine
and use the main controls, always staying behind the handle at a safe distance from the
rotating blade. If the operator leaves the machine, the motor and blade will stop within
a few seconds.
Intended use
This machine was designed and manufactured for cutting (and collecting) grass in gar-
dens and grassy areas, in areas in proportion to its cutting capacity, done by a pedestrian
operator. The presence of accessories or specific devices can prevent cut grass from
being collected or produce a mulching effect, depositing cut grass on the ground.
Improper use
Any other usage may be hazardous and harm persons and/or damage things. Examples
of improper use may include, but are not limited to:
– transporting persons, children or animals on the machine;
– letting oneself be transported by the machine;
– using the machine to tow or push loads;
– using the machine for leaf or debris collection;
– using the machine to trim hedges, or for cutting vegetation other than grass;
– use of the machine by more than one person;
– using the blades on surfaces other than grass.
A) TRAINING
1) Read the instructions carefully. Become familiar with the controls and the proper use
of the lawnmower. Learn how to stop the motor quickly.
2) Never allow children or persons unfamiliar with these instructions to use the lawn-
mower. Local regulations can restrict the minimum age of the operator.
3) Never use the lawnmower:
– w hen people, especially children or pets are nearby;
– i f the operator has taken medicine or substances that may impair his ability to react
and be attentive.
4) Bear in mind that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or unexpected
events occurring to other people or their property.
B) PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
1) While mowing, always wear sturdy footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the
lawnmower when barefoot or wearing open sandals. Avoid wearing clothing that is loose
fitting or has hanging cords or ties.
2) Thoroughly inspect the entire work area and remove anything that could be thrown
by the machine or damage the cutting unit or motor (stones, branches, iron wire, bones,
etc.).
3) Before use, always inspect generally and in particular to see that the blade, screws
and cutting unit are not worn or damaged. Replace damaged or worn blades and screws
in their entirety to preserve balance. Replace damaged or unreadable labels.
C) DURING USE
1) Mow only in daylight or good artificial light.
2) Avoid mowing wet grass or when it is raining.
3) Make sure you have a steady foothold on slopes.
4) Never run, always walk; do not let the lawnmower pull you.
5) Always mow transversely on slopes and never up and down.
6) Be extremely carefully when changing directions on slopes.
7) Never mow on overly steep slopes.
8) Be extremely careful when pull the lawnmower toward you.
9) Immobilise the blade if the lawnmower must be inclined for transport, when moving
over surfaces other than grass and when the lawnmower is transported from or to an
area that must be cut.
10) Never operate the lawnmower with damaged guards or without the grass-catcher
or discharge guards.
11) Start up the motor carefully according to the instructions, keeping feet away from
the blade.
12) Do not incline the lawnmower when starting the motor, unless necessary for start
up. In this event, do not incline it more than is absolutely necessary and only lift the part
that is far from the operator. Always ensure that both hands are in the working position
before lowering the lawnmower again.
13) Do not start the machine when standing in front of the discharge opening.
14) Never place your hands and feet near or under rotating parts. Keep away from the
discharge opening.
15) Do not lift or transport the lawnmower when the motor is running.
16) Stop the machine and remove the key. Make sure that all moving parts have come
to a complete stop:
– when transporting the machine;
– whenever you leave the machine.
– before clearing blockages or unclogging chute;
– before checking, cleaning or working on the machine;
– after striking a foreign object. Inspect the machine for damage and make repairs before
restarting and operating the machine;
If the machine starts to vibrate abnormally (check immediately):
– inspect for damage;
– replace or repair any damaged parts at a specialised centre;
– check for and tighten any loose parts.
17) Stop the motor:
– whenever you remove or reattach the grass-catcher;
– whenever you adjust the cutting height.
18) When mowing, always keep a safe distance from the rotary blade, given by the
length of the handle.

19) WARNING - If something breaks or an accident occurs during mowing, turn off the
motor immediately and move the machine away to prevent further damage; if an accident
occurs with injuries or third parties are injured, carry out the first aid measures most suit-
able for the situation immediately and contact the medical authorities for any necessary
health care. Carefully remove any debris that might cause damage or harm persons or
animals should it not be seen.
D) MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1) Keep all nuts and screws tight to be sure the machine is always in safe working
condition. Routine maintenance is essential for safety and for maintaining a high per-
formance level.
2) Check the discharge guards and the grass-catcher frequently for wear or deteriora-
tion.
3) Be careful during adjustment of the machine to prevent entrapment of the fingers
between moving blades and fixed parts of the machine.
4) Always allow the machine to cool down before storing.
5) When servicing the blade, be aware that the blade can move even if the key has
been removed.
6) For safety reasons, never use the machine when it has worn or damaged parts. Parts
must be replaced and not repaired. Use original spare parts. Parts that are not of the same
quality can damage the equipment and impair your safety.
7) To reduce fire hazards, keep lawnmower and in particular, the motor, free of grass,
leaves, or excessive grease. Never leave containers with cut grass inside a storage area.
E) GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
1) Before each use, check the machine for damage. Any repairs must be done at a
specialised centre. Turn off the machine and remove the key if the machine begins to
vibrate abnormally, then contact a specialised centre for inspection.
2) Keep both hands on the grip during start up.
3) Parts subject to wear must only be replaced at a specialised centre.
4) Never connect a damaged cable to a mains socket and never touch a damaged cable
that is connected to the mains socket. Damaged or deteriorated cables may cause
contact with energised parts.
5) Do not touch the blade until the key has been removed and the blade has come to
a complete stop.
6) Wear work gloves for disassembling and reassembling blades.
7) Keep the blade balanced during sharpening. All work on the blade (disassembly,
sharpening, balancing, reassembly and/or replacing) are demanding jobs that require
special skills as well as special tools. For safety reasons, these jobs are best carried out
at a specialised centre.
8) Carefully read the instructions for using the machine safely.
9) Only use battery chargers recommended by the manufacturer to recharge batteries.
An inadequate battery charger may cause electric shock, overheating or corrosive liquid
to leak from the battery
10) Use only batteries specifically designed for your power tool. The use of other batter-
ies may cause injuries and fire risks.
11) Liquid can leak from batteries when they are in bad condition. Avoid all contact with
this liquid. Rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs. If the liquid comes into
contact with the eyes, call a doctor immediately. Liquid leaks from batteries can cause
skin irritation and even burns.
F) USER INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCUMULATORS
1) Make sure that the tool is switched off before inserting the battery. Inserting a battery
in a power tool which is switched on can cause accidents.
2) Keep all unused batteries at a distance from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or
other small metal objects as contact with the same can cause short circuits. Short circuits
between battery contacts can lead to explosion or fires.
3) The accumulator must never be opened.
4) Never throw used batteries into a fire – EXPLOSION HAZARD!
5) Connect the battery charger only to power sockets carrying the voltage indicated on
the manufacturer's rating plate.
6) Use original accumulators only.
7) After prolonged use, the accumulator may heat up. Allow it to cool down before
recharging it.
8) Never leave the accumulator and battery charger within the reach of children.
9) Never use the battery charger in places where flammable vapours or substances
are present.
10) Recharge accumulators at a temperature of between 10° and 40°C only.
11) Never store accumulators in environments with temperatures of over 40°C.
12) Never cause short circuits between the accumulator contacts and never connect
them to metal objects.
13) When transporting accumulators, make sure the contacts never come into contact
with each other and never use metal containers to transport them.
14) Short circuit of the accumulator can cause an explosion. In any case, short circuits
will damage the accumulator.
15) Regularly check the battery charger cable for damage. If the cable gets damaged,
the battery charger must be replaced.
16) Recharge the accumulators completely before storing them in winter.
17) Keep the battery charger out of the rain and away from humidity. Water permeating
into the battery charger increases the risk of electric shock.
18) Keep the battery charger clean. Accumulated dirt may cause electric shock.
19) Never use the battery charger in environments with flammable substances or on
easily flammable surfaces such as paper, fabric, etc. The battery charger heats up during
recharging and may cause a fire.
20) A defective battery charger or improper use of the battery may cause vapours to
leak which may irritate the respiratory tract. Air the room with fresh air and consult a
physician for any disorders.
21) Regularly clean the battery's vents with a soft, dry and clean brush.
G) TRANSPORTATION AND HANDLING
1) Whenever the machine is to be handled, lifted, transported or tilted you must:
– w ear sturdy work gloves;
– g rasp the machine at the points that offer a safe grip, taking account of the weight
and its distribution.
– use an appropriate number of people for the weight of the machine and the charac-
teristics of the vehicle or the place where it must be placed or collected.
2) During transport, fasten the machine securely with cables or chains.
