The airflow through the variable speed drive must not be blocked by the cables or
the covering of the ventilation slots etc.
•
Depending on the variable speed drive type the air temperature, must not exceed
the following limits:
Frame types A....C with IP20:
Frame sizes 4....7:
All frame types of class IP21and IP56:

Derate the variable speed drive if operating at altitudes above 1000m.
•
Make sure that the clearance for cooling inlets and outlets above and below the
variable speed drive is at least 150mm. IP20 or IP21 variable speed drives need
extra protection against dirt, dust, and water.
Only qualified personnel may install and commission the SED1.
Do not install the variable speed drive where it will be subject to shock, vibration, elec-
tro-magnetic radiation, water hazards, or atmospheric pollutants such as dust or corro-
sive gases.
Secure the unit to a suitable, non-combustible, vertical surface (a load-bearing wall for
the heavier frame sizes 4-7).
Dependent on the type and power rating, the SED1 variable speed drives have varying
frame sizes and measurements.
Frame size A SED1 variable speed drives can be mounted on DIN rails.
The SED1 variable speed drives with protection class IP20/21 up to frame size C can
be mounted next to each other without any spacing. However, 100mm space above
and 160mm space below the variable speed drive are required for necessary air circu-
lation.
