Installation instructions
Technical specifi cations:
Flow pressure (min. - max.): 1, 5 - 5,0 bar
Fitting fl ow rate:
fi tting max. 15 l/min
Fitting fl ow rate:
BASIC showerhead 9 l/min
Temperature:
10 °C - 45 °C (note danger of scalding)
Temperature max.:
70 °C (short-term, e.g. for thermal disinfection - WARNING: danger of scalding!)
Installation instructions:
Make sure there is suffi cient allowance for dimensions in line with DIN 1988 section 300 and EN 806-3. DIN 1988 section 100
(protection of drinking water; preservation of drinking water quality) and EN 1717 (protection of drinking water against contaminants in
drinking water installations) are to be observed.
Water qualities:
SCHELL shower fi ttings are suitable for use in drinking water systems conforming to the German Drinking Water Ordinance of 2001.
Depending on the system, there are sensitive parts within the fi ttings that need to be protected against dirt particles and limescale
deposits. If necessary, back-wash fi lters and decalcifi cation systems are to be provided (water upwards of 10° dH). Approval is needed to
operate fi ttings with mineral waters where their contents tend to fl occulate, or which are particularly aggressive towards metal materials.
General installation instructions:
Use corrosion resistant pipe materials. Only seal threads with permitted sealants (e.g. Tefl on tape or hemp). Do not exceed standard
torque!
Rarely used fi ttings:
Choose pipe routing that will not allow for stagnating water to collect (ring installation). If necessary, provide fl ush valves behind the
fi ttings. If using after longer periods of non-operation, let the water drain; see „German Environmental Agency" (Umweltbundesamt)
recommendation.
Protection against legionella:
Provide fi ttings with integrated fl ush valve (SCHELL LINUS DP-C-T/DP-SC-T) for thermal disinfection where there is a risk of high concen-
trations of legionella or take other measures conforming with the DVGW (German association for gas and water) worksheet W 551. Take
particular care with installations for people with weak immune systems.
Instructions for commissioning:
Prior to commissioning, all pipe lines are to be fl ushed in accordance with the ZVSHK (‚German Association for Sanitation, Heating and
Air Conditioning') worksheet DIN EN 806-4. Every fi tting is to undergo a pressure test after installation; where possible, perform the
pressure test with compressed air.
Fittings with thermostats:
The temperature setting for thermostats is to be checked; hot water stop (38 °C ± 1 K).
WARNING: After removing the locking disc, water temperatures can cause scalding. Do not remove the locking disc when the fi ttings
are used by people who are particulary at risk (care facilities, kindergartens). Thermostat fi ttings have an anti-scalding protection feature
complying with EN 1111.
Fittings with temperature limit device:
WARNING: no anti-scalding protection! The mixed temperature ratio changes for increased hot water temperatures. If necessary, provide
central thermostats.
Mixers without thermostats:
Select operating temperatures for the hot water supply that will not allow risk of scalding. If necessary, provide central thermostats.
Outdoor installation:
WARNING: Empty tap if there is a risk of frost! Remove the functional components or permanently protect the fi tting against freezing with
heat tape.
Instructions for self-closing fi ttings DP-SC-V, DP-SC-M and DP-SC-T:
All fi ttings are checked in the factory to ensure they are fully functional and set to a cycle of approx. 20 - 25 s for the following values:
1. Flow pressure: 3 bar
2. Mixed water temperature: 38 °C
3. Showerhead fl ow: 9 l/min at 3 bar
Different pressures, fl ow rates and temperature changes lead to different cycle times:
1. Change in cycle times due to fl ow pressure changes
Greater pressure - shorter cycle
Lower pressure - longer cycle
2. Change in cycle times due to other fl ow rates
Lower fl ow rate - shorter cycle
Higher fl ow rate - longer cycle
3. Change in cycle times due to temperature changes
Higher temperature - shorter cycle
Lower temperature - longer cycle
The cycle setting can be set for between approx. 5 and approx. 30 s at 3 bar fl ow pressure using the regulating needle (see page 24). Cycle
fl uctuations due to pressure fl uctuations are usual within the supply network.
