Fitting columns
3.7.1
Runway alignment

Take care not to trap any cables and hoses.
1. Align the runways and cross members exactly at
right angles.

Measure across the diagonals. There must not be
a deviation of more than 6 mm between the two
diagonals of the rectangle.
2. Tighten the bolts to secure the cross members to
the runways.

Positioning columns
1. Guide the suspension cables upwards behind the
safety lever of the cross members.
2. Slide the columns towards the cross members until
they make contact with the edges of the outer guide
pieces.

Only the four outer guide pieces are fitted at the
factory. The four inner guide pieces are fitted later.
3. Align the columns at right angles to the cross
members. Make sure the columns are straight.
4. Use a spirit level to ensure exact perpendicular
alignment of the columns.

Anchoring columns

Heed the installation instructions of the connector
manufacturer.
Use amply dimensioned packing plates.

Refer to Section 2.6.3 for recommended heavy-duty
anchors.
1. Check the position of the detent pin with respect to
the locking bar. The detent pin should end flush with
the outer edge of the locking bar.
2. Use heavy-duty anchors to secure the base plates of
the columns to the foundation.

The heavy duty anchor must be drawn with the
corresponding torque.

Fitting inner guide pieces
Bolt the four inner guide pieces to the cross
members.

Fitting safety bars
1. Screw the nut onto the safety bar.
2. Insert the safety bar in the safety mechanism at the
bottom and then slide upwards into the end plate
of the column. To do so press the safety lever of the
safety mechanism into the column.

The upper nut must be flush with the end of the
threaded rod.
3. Secure the safety bar with a nut/washer from above.
4. Fit the safety bars of the other three columns in the
same manner.
