ELECTRIC HEATER (MANAGED
SUPPLEMENTARY DEVICE)
The E4 user interface can be made available in
the AUX mode required to activate the heater
accessory. Standard operation of the heater
accessory envisages ON-OFF control. In order to
control this type of accessory, the Dip 6 must first
be configures to On, and the speed selector must
be set to the "Aux" position.
The electric heater is activated when a thermostat
operation request is received, and when the water
temperature is sufficiently low, as shown in the
figure below. In particular, this figure also indicates
the activation thresholds in relation to the reduced
band/normal band operating mode set (dip 4). It
should be noted that when the thermostat starts
up, the heater is OFF, so it will only be activated
if the water temperature is below the enabling
threshold (35°C with normal band and 31°C with
reduced band).
When the electric heater is activated, the ventilation
must also be managed, in accordance with the
proportional error, where the guaranteed minimum
speed is V2.
This setting is necessary in order to ensure
adequate dissipation of the heat generated by the
Joule effect of the heater.
If the fan coil is operated with continuous
ventilation, the electric heater will switch off when
the set point is reached, while the ventilation
will continue at a speed of V/Min after the post-
ventilation phase described below.

Electric heater operation involves pre-ventilation
and post-ventilation phases in relation to its
activation and deactivation. The figure shows these
timings:

It should be noted that the pre-ventilation phase
(20" at V1) always corresponds to the activation
of the electric heater, while the post-ventilation
phase always corresponds to the deactivation of the
electric heater (60" at V1). Finally, please note that
the electric heater is never enabled if the thermostat
is in anti-freeze or emergency mode, due to the
ambient probe.
Function of the heater accessory in replacement
mode
In order to manage the fan coils which cool via the
coil and the and to manage heating through the
electric heater, the thermostat must be configured
as shown below:
1) Install the (2/3 way) shut-off valve: dip 1 ON
2) Install the accessory: dip 6 ON
3) Select heater management in replacement mode:
dip 8 ON
The heater can always be activated, regardless of the
position of the thermostat operating mode selector
(AUTO-V1-V2-V3-AUX).
The fan coils set up for this configuration use air-
side changeover and the max. control only. As
for supplementary management mode, in this
operating mode the heater is also activated in
accordance with the pre-ventilation and post-
ventilation logics (see fig.16) in order to prevent the
protection thermostats from being activated.

The control software checks that the heater is
working properly, by checking the following:
• Electric heater temperature
• Absence of heater
The temperature of the heater is measured by
reading the NTC probe, which indicates the
operating temperature of the device, and the fault
check process follows the steps described in the
figure below.
The check for the absence of the heater is carried
out by checking the status of fuse F2, as well as by
checking whether a temperature of at least 50 °C
is reached within 300 seconds of the device being
activated.
The heater alarm (which is triggered by the
combination of the temperature or absence check)
is a fault which inhibits the operation of the heater.
In order to reactivate the device, the power supply to
the thermostat must be shut off.
