Problem
During operation you
notice an unpleasant
smell.
The appliance does not
work and/or no steam or
water/coffee is given off.

The clip at the handle of
the portafilter is folded up.
The appliance is used for
the very first time or after
an elongated period of
storage.
You did not purge the
water system sufficiently
after descaling.
A severe problem occur-

The appliance is not live
or switched off.
The automatic shut-off has
been triggered.
The pump is working
audibly: Not enough
water in the water tank
or the water tank is not
installed correctly.
Extracting espresso:
The steam dial is not clo-
sed completely.
Hot water/steam
function: The steam
wand is clogged.
A severe problem occur-
red.
Die Lösung des Problems
Fold back the clip into the portafilter handle. The clip is
used only, when hitting out the coffee puck after the
extraction cycle.
This is normal. Prepare the machine for operation via the
procedure, described in chapter 'Before First Use'.
Purge the water system (see: 'Care and Cleaning / Des-
caling the Appliance').
If the problem persists after thoroughly purging the water
system, immediately switch off and unplug the appli-
ance. Get in contact with your vendor for examination
and repair.
Switch on the appliance by pressing the power button.
Check whether the power indicator illuminates. If not,
ensure that the power supply outlet is live by connecting
a lamp.
After max. 30 minutes of being idle, the appliance swit-
ches off automatically. Press the power button to switch
on the appliance.
Immediately switch off the activated function!
Before operation, fill the water tank with at least 250 ml
of water. Ensure that the water tank is installed correctly at
the rear of the appliance. Without violence push the water
tank down (see: 'Operation / Filling the Water Tank').
For extracting espresso, the dot at the steam dial must
be turned clockwise to the stop ("0" position). Other-
wise, the appliance cannot build up sufficient pressure at
the group head.
Clean the steam wand (see: 'Care and Cleaning / Clea-
ning the Steam Wand').
Immediately switch off the appliance and unplug. Get in
contact with an authorized service centre for examination
and repair.
