f) Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking
levers must be tight and secure before
making cut. If blade adjustment shifts while
cutting, it may cause binding and kickback.
g) Use extra caution when making a "plunge
cut" into existing walls or other blind
areas. The protruding blade may cut objects
than can cause kickback.
Specific Safety Rules
for CSP 85/60 Circular Saws
a) Before each use, check if the retracting
blade guard closes properly. Do not operate
the saw if the retracting blade guard does
not move freely and retract immediately.
Never clamp or tie the retracting blade
guard in the open position. If the saw is ac-
cidentally dropped, the retracting blade guard
can be bent. Pull back the retracting blade
guard with the pull-back lever and ensure that
it moves freely and does not touch the saw
blade or other parts at any cutting angles and
depths-of-cut.
b) Check the spring function of the retracting
blade guard. If the retracting blade guard
and the spring do not operate properly,
have the machine serviced before using.
The retracting blade guard may operate slug-
gish due to damaged parts, gummy deposits
or build-up of chips/sawdust.
c) Only pull back the retracting blade guard
manually for special cuts, such as "plunge
and bevel cuts". Pull back the retracting
blade guard with the pull-back lever and
release it as soon as the saw blade has
penetrated the work. For all other sawing
jobs, the retracting blade guard must operate
automatically.
d) Do not place down the saw on a work
bench or the ground without the retracting
blade guard covering the saw blade. An
unprotected, coasting saw blade will move
the saw in the opposite direction of the cut,
cutting whatever is in its path. Pay attention
to the run-on period of the saw.
e) Use the matching riving knife for the saw
blade being worked with. The riving knife
must be wider than the thickness of the blade
back, but thinner than the kerf width of the
saw blade.
f) Adjust the riving knife as described in the
operating instructions. Incorrect width,
position and alignment can be the cause that
the riving knife does not effectively prevent
kickback.

g) Always use the riving knife, except when
performing plunge cuts. After the plunge
cut, mount the riving knife again. The riving
knife interferes when performing plunge cuts
and can lead to kickback.
h) In order for the riving knife to be effective,
it must be located in the cut. For short cuts,
the riving knife is ineffective for the preven-
tion of kickback.
i) Do not operate the saw with a bent riving
knife. Even a minor malfunction can lead to
sluggish retraction of the retracting blade
guard.

Turner safety instructions

Check the power supply cord and plug before
each use of the electric tool. Have any defect
repaired by a professional service workshop.
Remove plug from the mains before per-
forming any work on the electric tool.
Only insert plug in the mains socket when the
electric tool is switched off by the mains
switch. Always keep the power supply cord
back away from the electric tool while working
and allow the cord to move freely in the whole
working area to make trouble-free work
possible.
Whenever possible, the electric tool should
be connected to the mains via a fault current
circuit breaker (Fl) or a PRCD safety device.
The pendulum safety guard shall be freely
movable. It shall not remain blocked in the
opened position.
Never brake the saw blade to a stop by
applying side pressure on the disc after
switching off.
Using saw blades of highly alloyed steels or
high speed steel (HSS) is prohibited.
 Never cut materials containing asbestos.
Make sure that there are no obstructions in
the cutting line both on the upper and lower
surfaces of the workpiece.
The saw blade should not project more than
3 mm below the workpiece.
In case that the saw blade gets stalled, switch
off the electric tool immediately.
Operating the electric tool
for a first time
Check that the plug is the right type for the
socket.
