Using the power supply

7.8 Unlocking the U/I/R operation mode

Enable R mode+
R mode available:
YES
The U/I/R operation mode is unlocked and can
be used
NO
U/I/R mode not enabled
The U/I/R operation mode can only be used after it was un-
locked with a pincode. This mode also has to be configured in
the profile (see also „7.1 Defining operation parameters").
The pincode to unlock the U/I/R mode costs. In case you
intend to use this mode, you can add this to your order or
purchase it later.
Activate R mode via pin code:
Use the pincode you received from your dealer here.
7.9 Locking the device configuration
Setup lock+
It can be necessary, for security reasons, to lock the device
configuration from access. You can enter a pincode here,
consisting of 4 numbers, each from 0 to 15.
Lock setup via
Enter the pincode
pin code: {0..15} {0..15} {0..15} {0..15}
The lock can only be disabled with the same pincode or by
resetting the configuration with
The latter one deletes the custom setup and should only be
used is case the pincode has been forgotten.
If you activate the lock with the pincode you can only change
the configuration again after the pincode was entered again
and the setup is unlocked.

7.10 Parallel and serial connection

7.10.1 Serial connection

Safety provisions for 80V models:
!
Only units of the same type may be operated and
connected together. The maximum allowed serial
connection voltage is 300V.
Safety provisions for 300V models:
Only units of the same type may be operated and
connected together.
The maximum allowed serial connection voltage is
!
600V, but only if the direct connection between two
units is grounded (PE)! When using 00V models you
must only operate a maximum of two units in serial,
because of the observance of the insulation clearance.
Cables and wires have to be dimensioned according
to the high voltage, in order to avoid any danger or
damage to persons.
Note about the used terms: in a system of power sup-
plies which are operating after the master-slave principle
one unit is always the master of next unit (slave).
In order to raise the output voltage, two or more units can
be connected in serial.
The normal master-slave operation is not available for con-
figurations with PSI 9000 units only. Either one PSI 9000
operates as master or slave, in combination with one or
multiple units PS 9000. Alternatively, it is recommended to
use the System Link mode. See section „8. System Link
Mode".
The units are wired at the terminal System Bus, Pin 7 (Se-
rial connection). The unit whose pin 7 is wired is working as
a slave. The (+) output of the master unit (Pin 2, terminal
System Bus) is connected here. Furthermore, the (–) DC
power output of the master is connected to the (+) DC power
output of the slaves. The load is then connected to the (+)
DC power output of the masters and the (–) DC power output
of the (last) slave. The master unit is, in serial operation,
the one with the higher voltage potential, compared to the
lowest (last) slave. When connecting multiple units to serial
operation the upper unit will always be the master of the next
unit below and is connected as described above. In case
the remote sense feature is used with the load, you must
connect (+)Sense of the upper master unit and (–)Sense of
the lower slave to the load. Else the sense connectors have
to be wired as normal (described in „5. Installation"). The
set values of voltage and current at the slave(s) should be
set to maximum, hence the slave unit(s) do(es) not limit the
current too early.
