Prolonged use or hard water can cause after a short period of time limestone depos-
its to form in and on many functioning parts of your machine and reduce operating
performance – which, in turn, reduces the quality of the espresso.
This is why Solis recommends regularly (depending on water hardness but at least
once a month) descaling your Personal Barista espresso machine with a mixture of
®
SOLIPOL special and water. Please use only SOLIPOL
descaling the machine. Damages caused by the use of improper descaling agent are
GB not covered by warranty.
Proceed as follows:
1. Insert the portafilter (with inserted filter, but without coffee powder) into the
brewing head. Pour a 1:1 mixture of SOLIPOL
tank and fill it up to 1 cm under the edge.
2. Connect the power plug to the socket.
3. Press the ON/OFF button and wait for the yellow temperature lamp (2) to go out
and the appliance to reach the operating temperature.
4. Place a large empty container underneath the brewing head or the portafilter.
5. Do not press the steam button, the machine has to be in coffee brew mode. The
steam / hot water wand is in the original position.
6. Press the coffee extraction button (4) and let approx. 150 ml of water flow
through. Press the button again to stop the function.
7. Swivel the steam / hot water wand outwards and place a milk jug under it.
8. Press the steam button (3) to set the appliance to steam function.
9. Let steam escape into the prepared, empty milk jug from the steam / hot water
wand for approx. 2 minutes.
10. Press the steam button (3) again so that the appliance switches back to the
coffee function. Then, swivel the steam / hot water wand back to the original
position.
11. Press the ON / OFF button to switch the appliance off. Let the descaling solution
sit for 15 minutes.
12. Switch the appliance back on after 15 minutes and repeat steps 5 to 11 at least
3 times until the descaling solution is almost used up.
13. If almost all of the descaling solution has been used up, remove the water tank,
rinse it carefully with fresh water to remove all descaled residues and refill it with
fresh tap water.
14. To rinse out the machine as well and to remove all descaler residues, please re-
peat steps 5 to 10 until only a small amount of water remains in the water tank.

15. Turn the machine off using the ON/OFF button and pull the power plug from
the socket.
16. Remove the water tank again, empty it out and refill it with fresh tap water.
17. Remove the portafilter from the brewing head and rinse it under running water,
together with the filter insert. Then, dry the portafilter and the filter insert.
NOTE: Please wipe potential splashes of descaling solution on the appliance casing
away immediately, as the agent might damage the surface.
WARNING: Never submerge power cord, power plug or the appliance itself
in water or any other liquid. Never remove the water tank or let it run dry
while descaling.
