Wipe the filter insert clean with a dry towel.

Place the portafilter on the bracket (10) underneath the coffee powder dispenser (9).

Briefly press the grinding button (6) to start the grinder.

The grinder grinds in the set grind size until the desired amount of ground coffee
●
has been dispensed. Then, the grinder stops automatically.
Tip: You can stop the grinder manually by pressing the grinding button (6) twice.
Take the portafilter off the bracket and gently knock the portafilter against the
●
worktop, to spread the ground coffee evenly around the filter insert. Tamp the
coffee powder with the built-in tamper. Make sure that the level of the coffee
powder does not exceed the edge of the portafilter, otherwise the portafilter
cannot be screwed into the brewing group.
After tamping, remove coffee leftovers from the portafilter edge so that it can be

correctly attached to the brewing head.
CAUTION: If the edge of the portafilter is not clean, the portafilter cannot be
tightly screwed into the brewing head and water might run out next to the
portafilter.

Make sure that the steam / hot water wand is in the original position, meaning

swivelled in all the way. Otherwise, pressing the coffee extraction button (4) ac-
tivates the hot water function.
Insert the portafilter into the brewing group: Hold the portafilter under the brew-
●
ing head so that the handle first points halfway to the left.
Push the portafilter up against the brewing head and turn the handle to the right
●
until you feel some resistance and the handle points halfway to the right.
CAUTION: You should be able to turn the portafilter all the way to the right without
much effort. Should this not be the case, you have to remove the portafilter again
and reduce the amount of coffee powder to allow the portafilter to be easily screwed
in. As the portafilter is under high pressure while the coffee is being brewed, it might
come loose if it is screwed in all the way. Disregard means a high risk of burning.
