Unlike the OM-2M, the OM-2 does not have a viewfinder lamp to
show flash readiness and correct film exposure.
lmportant! Olympus flash shoe No. 3 is required on the came-
ram. The *X-FP" synchronization switch on the camera is to be
set to "X".
Flashing with the camera automatic mode: Set the camera
operating mode selector to "Auto" and set the required lens
aperture. Set the operating mode selector on the flash unit to
the mark "M". Flash readiness and display of the correct expo-
sure is only visible on the flash unit. Othenrise the handling of
the camera and flash unit is as for the OM-2N.
Flashing with the Mecablitz in the automatic or manual mode:
Set the flash unit to the auto-working exposure or "M".
Set the"X-FP" synchronization switch to "X". Set the shutter to
1 / 3 0 s , 1 / 6 0 s o r l o n g e r .

regard to selecting the camera aperture and handling and set-

The camera displays flash readiness and the correcily made ex-
posure in the viewfinder. Control of the flashexposure by means
of a meter in the camera is not a feature.
Flash operation using the flash automatic: Set the camera ope-
rating mode selector to "Auto". Flash readiness of the Mecablitz
is appropriately displayed in viewfinder and the shutter will be
automatically set to the flash synchronization shutter speed
(1/60 s) at the same time.
The correct film exposure is displayed by the viewfinder lamp.
Should the lamp remain illuminated or wink after release of the
camera trigger then the film has been correctly exposed.
Should insufficient light be available for a correct film exposure
with the set camera aperture then the flash ready lamp goes out
in the viewfinder. The exposure should be repeated with a smal-
ler lens aperture number.

Manual flash mode: Set the camera operating mode selector to
"Auto". When the Mecablitz is ready for flashing the appropriate
