cause the flash to be triggered synchronously. lf the light emit-
ted by the flashgun is sufficient for correct exposure with the
aperture selected, the red LED signal will stay illuminated or will
go on blinking. However, if the red LED signal disappears the
lighting was insufficient and the picture should be taken again
using a larger opening. Flash readiness is given whenever the
LED is lighted continuously.
3. Manual operation: For manual flash operation -'including the
winder and motor drive mode - connect the flash unit to the
camera by means of its normal sync cable.
Set the camera's shutter speed to "X". For furtherdetails
please see the flashgun's operating instructions, section "Ma-
n u a l m o d e " .

Only slip the flash unit into the camera accessory shoe in the
switched-off condition.

These cameras have various properties for flash operation. Plea-
se note in particular that the special flash functions are only
achievable using the corresponding Olympus flash shoe.
Olympus OM-1N
Olympus flash shoe No. 4 is required. The OM-1N shows flash
readiness in the viewfinder and whether the exposure was cor-
rect. Additional special functions for flash operation are not
available. The handling and setting of the camera and flash unit
can be taken from the Sections "Automatic mode" and "Manual
modg".
Olympus OM-2N
Olympus flash unit No. 4 is required. "X" synchronization is au-
tomatically available on connecting the flash unit to this shoe.
This is independent of the setting of the synchronization selec-
tor on the camera flash cable contact.
Flash operation with the oamera automatic exposure setting:
Set the camera operating mode selector to the position "Auto".
Set the desired aperture on the lens. Set the operating mode
selector of the Mecablitz to the marking "M". When the flash
unit is ready for flashing, after switching it on, this will be dis-
played by illumination of the lamp in the viewfinder.
