in the viewfinder and automatic setting of the "X" synchroniza-
tion speed.

After switching the flash unit on and flash readiness is reached,
this is indicated in the camera viewfinder by flashing of the par-
ticular LED. Simultaneously the shutter speed is automatically
set to the "X" synchronization shutter speed (1/100 or 1/60 s).
lf the unit is not ready for flashing (no display in the viewfinder)
the camera functions with the time set on the shutter or that au-
tomatically set by the camera metering system in the automatic
mode.
All remaining settings on flash unit and camera, such as auto-
working apertures and camera aperture, are made according to
Sections "Automatic mode" and "Manual mode" and the infor-
mation given in the camera operating instructions.

Only slip flash unit into the camera accessory shoe in the swit-
ched-off condition.
Camera models: FE, EM

The main feature of this camera model is the flash ready lamp vi-
sible in the camera viewfinder when operating in the dedicated
mode.
Please see Sections "Automatic mode" and "Manual mode" for
the operation and handling of the Mecablitz.
Nikon FE
Camera setting I "Auto"
The flash ready lamp illuminates on the Mecablitz as well as in
the viewfinder of the Nikon FE. Simultaneously the synchroniza-
tion shutter is automatically set to 1/90 s.
The aperture set on the Mecablitz is to be set on the camera as
w e l l .
Manual camera setting: The synchronization shutter speed can
be set to 1/125 s and slower but under no conditions to a faster
time. Should this be done mistakenly then the flash ready lamp
provides a warning in the viewfinder by blinking. After correction
of the setting the lamp illuminates constantly and steadily. The
aperture set on the Mecablitz is to be set on the cameras as well.
