Sawing hard or rough materials
Warning! Never saw material where
harmful substances are released, such
as PTFE or asbestos.
Sheet metal
Always set the sawing depth to at least 1 mm
greater than the thickness of the material so
that the saw does not slip. Place a piece of
cardboard under the metal sheet.
Remove any irregularities and rust which may
hinder the saw.
Beeswax or furniture polish applied to the saw's
base plate will make it easier to saw metal.
Do not saw steel or galvanized steel.
Pause every 2 minutes when sawing metal.
Ceramic tiles and slate
Use a suitable blade. It is necessary to use
dust extraction, because the dust which is
created can hinder the movement of the
protective cover.
Place protective tape or PVC tape on the
base plate or on the object to be sawn. This
makes it easier to saw and protects the tiles
against becoming scratched.
Plasterboard
As an exception, the saw may be used to cut
plasterboard, but only with suitable dust
extraction. Dust can hinder the movement of
the protective cover.
N.B.: Practice sawing wood before trying
something more complicated, such as metal or
some types of plastic. More force is required
to hold the object to be sawn and you may
sometimes have to use clamps to keep the object
in place.
Dust extraction
The Precision Circular Saw is a powerful saw. A
lot of dust will be produced when sawing. Since
the blade is fully enclosed, it is necessary to
extract the dust.
An industrial vacuum cleaner or a household
vacuum cleaner can be attached to the saw's
dust extraction pipe with the aid of a dust
extraction kit.
Before use, make sure the hose fits exactly
onto the metal clip.
Remove the plug from the socket before
connecting the hose. Push the hose with the
metal clip onto the dust extraction pipe as far
as the lath on the saw. Make sure the
protective cover can still move freely. If
necessary, use tape to secure the hose in
position.
Make sure the vacuum cleaner is suitable for
use with an electrical machine. In general,
household water and dust vacuum cleaners
are suitable.
It is recommended to use dust extraction
when a lot of sawing is to carried out, because
less breaks will then be required to clean the
saw and the surroundings.
It is necessary to extract the dust when
sawing dangerous materials, such as
hardwood, MDF and ceramics.
It is recommended to extract dust if you wish
to keep the work area clean.
It is necessary to extract the dust if the
material to be sawn is damp.
4. Maintenance
Make sure that the machine is not live
when carrying out maintenance work on
the motor.
This machine has been designed to operate
over a long period of time with a minimum of
maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation
depends upon proper machine care and regular
cleaning.
Maintenance
Machines are designed to function without
problems for a long time with a minimum of
maintenance. Cleaning the saw regularly and
handling it properly will help extend its lifespan.
Cleaning
For safety reasons, the saw must be cleaned
regularly. A build-up of dust can affect the
operation of the saw.
Remove the plug from the plug socket.
Remove the protective cover and clean it
thoroughly using a soft brush, such as a paint
brush.
Clean the housing regularly with a soft cloth,
preferably each time after use. Make sure that
the ventilation holes are free of dust and dirt.
Use a damp soft cloth to remove stubborn dirt.
