The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by trained, qualified personnel
only. The daily duration of use and period of application are dependent on medical indication
by the physician
CAUTION
Risk of injury as a result of improper use. All aids – supports and orthoses – which are ap-
plied to the body may result in local pressure spots or, in some cases, even restrict the adjacent
vessels and nerves when they are applied too tightly.
The product is foremost intended to be used daytime but it is possible to be used also in the
night, as a pain reducing orthosis.
1.5 Intended use
This unloading shoulder brace (fig. 1) supports the shoulder, improves body posture and provides
pain relief. The shoulder brace consists of two parts – a shoulder cuff (fig. 1, pos. 1) and a fore-
arm cuff (fig. 1, pos. 2) – the cuffs are connected by two functionally placed straps (fig. 1, pos.
3) supporting, yet allowing, any forearm motion. At the same time the slight external rotation is
promoted thanks to the position of the straps. On the shoulder cuff there is another couple of sup-
porting straps (fig. 1, pos. 4). It is essential that the shoulder brace is carefully fitted and is correctly
placed for optimal function. Both shoulder and forearm cuff have a silicone band on the inside
to avoid any gliding. For best comfort two axillar pads are included in the package fig. 1 pos. 5).
In addition there is a muscle stimulation pad (fig. 1, pos. 6) that can be easily attached by hook
and loop tape to the shoulder brace to stimulate for example M. Rhomboideus, lower range of M.
Trapezius or upper range of M. Latissimus Dorsi.
2 Handling
2.1 Fitting and application of the brace
Correct application is crucial for the products function. The initial fitting and application of the
product must be carried out by trained and qualified personnel.
1) Open all hook- and loop straps and place the shoulder brace on the affected shoulder.
2) Place the shoulder cuff on the shoulder and close on the upper arm (fig. 2). The seam should
be placed below the joint space (fig. 3). The seam will then be on the joint space when the
product is further applied and the arm is given a slight pull upwards to get in a favourable
position (fig. 4).
3) Pull the wide strap under the opposite arm and close the hook and loop in the front (fig. 5).
Adjust the axillar pad to a comfortable position.
4) Adjust on the backside to make sure scapula is covered as much as possible (fig. 6).
5) Keep the forearm in supination (the palm upwards) and close the forearm cuff. The cuff should
be placed close to the elbow joint, however leaving olecranon free (fig. 7, 8).
6) Choose length of the lower straps (fig.1, pos.3) and connect the forearm piece with the shoul-
der piece by them. (fig. 9). The product is delivered with a pair of short straps but as an option
there is a pair of long straps added in the packaging. The straps have snap buttons in different
